Beautiful decor, clean as could be, and the staff are exceptional.
We were checked in by Christopher who quickly made us coffee and tea and engaged in lovely conversation. So personable and helpful!
Breakfast was a delicious spread, and by far the best of all the hotels we stayed at.

The place is decorated well to provide everyone with a cozy atmosphere. All facilities are in good and clean condition. The kitchen is well equipped and the place has lounge areas in mutiple levels. Toilets are in every level, three showers in both the women's and men's side + plenty of hot water!
Near the hostel is a delicious restaurant Skúrinn, where the staff was super helpful with food restrictions.

The facilities were immaculate and lovely and the view was great. We felt like we were in our own little world. GPS wasn't helpful for the last couple minutes of the drive, but the directions provided by the owner were clear and made it easy to find. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay off the beaten track.

Staying at Akkeri for a week in early March was wonderful. The accommodations were very comfortable and clean. Our host was very helpful and made sure all the guests were taken care of. I liked that we had refrigerator space and all the utensils and dishes we needed to make our own breakfast and lunch, with tables to eat at. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate were always available. We were also able to have a load of laundry done at a reasonable price. And we loved Stykkisholmur!

The apartment is spacious, cozy and decorated with intention, and i just a stone’s throw away from the harbor and the town’s supermarket.

Only a couple of hours from Reykjavik but this place feels very much away from it all. The roads in and out aren't the easiest depending on the weather. We visited in early April and got stuck in snow (twice!) on the way in taking the northern road then feared getting stuck due to road closures and difficult driving conditions on the way out but we made it. Because of this we didn't get to see as much as we'd have liked. But we did have excellent takeaway fish and chips from the harbour front at Hafnarvaginn

I loved the small-town vibe and charming Icelandic architecture located on an active harbour. Beautiful ocean views from the harbour-adjacent island walk! Enjoyed soaking at the local pool/hot pots, and happy to have a bakery, grocery store, and restaurants to choose from for meals. I would gladly stay here again, or for more than one night to see some of the local museums which were closed over Easter weekend.

Great location on north side of peninsula.
Great location on north side of peninsula. Wish we’d had more time to explore. Excellent northern lights viewing near the lighthouse. Go up the stairs toward the lighthouse and turn left to block harbor lights.

It is a nice little town by the sea.
It is a nice little town by the sea. There is a small hill by the harbor you can climb that offers beautiful views. There are also a few restaurants, cafes, shops and museums but it is also nice to just walk around.
i would love to say a huuuge THANK You for the owner(Skarph ?) to having us in this beautiful gem. loved this cosy , super clean warm hotel.
we arrived there at 29 may, booked the cheapest priced room, but the owner upgraded us because the hotel was not fully booked that day.
i was so happy. :) so we got the room 7 with a wonderful harbor view.
i would definitely recommend this Hotel to everyone who would love to spend time in Stykkyholmur.
oh!!! and dont forget to drink coffee there :) it sooo tasty :)
Small, historic hotel in Stykkisholmur. Our room on the top floor was quite small and under the severely sloping part of the roof, so limited in headroom. Otherwise, it was clean & comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, well worth the extra charge. Overall vibe was fitting for a remote town in the West of Iceland. And you can stream The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013 version) while you are lying in bed and see the hotel and several other structures in Stykkisholmur!
After nearly two weeks in Iceland our stay at Helgafell will go down as one of our absolute favorites. The privacy and coziness of Lara’s cabin were everything we could have asked for on a getaway with everything you need to make yourself at home. Abundant linens, warm water, privacy curtains, a place to park, a two burner cooktop, and plentiful heaters helped make it a perfect stay.
The receptionist was wonderful. Exceptional value, you must take take the trail walk to lighthouse near hotel. Want to highly recomend Joy who did breakfast she should be called Ms. Sunshine! Very pleasant, singing and made sure all food was present 100 percent presntable at all times and had dirty dishes gone so quickly Highly recomend and bed was so comfy!
This is, without doubt, one of the best stays I`ve had in Iceland. The host was very kind and helpful. Cottages and hotel rooms were very clean. They provide all the kitchen appliances you need. Great location, I would definitely spent more days there if I had time.
Super responsive host, contactless check in, gorgeous sea views, comfy bed, great shower, well-equipped kitchen, free parking, walkable to restaurants and town, quiet and comfortable, in-unit laundry; one of the best places we stayed in Iceland
located in the center of the beautiful village of Stykkishólmur, our entry point to the route in Snæfellsjökull peninsula, a must see in Iceland. comfortable, clean room and bathroom. Great breakfast at fare price. Helpful host.
Nice and cozy little hotel in a beautiful and quaint fishing village. Staff friendly. The food is world class. Every ingredient is local. This is a good place for kids and people that would like a break from city hustle bustle.
The staff we delightful and very helpful.. It was our first day in Iceland and they helped us to get oriented.. They also steered us towards a great restaurant for dinner. Highly recommend this Hotel.
Very clean and close to harbor ferry.
Had true Iceland character.
Wonderful communication from host and very easy to find and get checked in.
Loved the homemade slippers.
The reception was warm welcoming.
We had the most beautiful view of the harbour from our room.
Fantastic restaurant just around the corner, walking distance from the Hotel.
Very cozy hotel with domestic Iceland style. Friendly and helpful owners. The hotel is in remote area, but it’s a big plus since it is surrounded by beautiful nature.

the owner was interesting to talk with
you are staying like in a fairy tale
