The view was great. Could see Kirkjufell from the balcony. Property was very clean. Nice to have some kitchen tableware and minimal cooking items. It was just a minute's walk from a grocery store too, so that was nice.

No complaints at all. We stayed 3 days and had the whole farmhouse to ourselves, including full kitchen and bathroom. The views are unmatched; we were able to see the Northern Lights from the front door. At the end of our stay, Gudrun gave us a full tour of the farm where we got to meet all the cows and sheep! Cannot recommend enough, we'll be back.

The house was very clean and spacious. All amenities were available. Check in instructions were clear. The host was very responsive whenever we reached out for any assistance. Although we did not check in early but they accommodated our request when we raised one. Kirkjufell's view from one of the rooms is just out of this world! Totally recommended. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

They have all we need. Very comfortable. Modern design. Clean. Good car parking. Closed to Kirkjufell. Unfortunately when we arrived, there was snow storm we could not see Kirkjuwell. The apartment was surrounded by snow. In the morning we could drive back to see Kirkjuwell again. This time we luckily could see some front part of Kirk. This apartment is the best choice for travellers who would like to see Kirkjuwell.

Grundarfjordur is a convenient town for exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. It has a good grocery store and two excellent cafes for coffee & treats. A little food truck is open until the end of August. We stayed here 4 nights so we would have time to explore and I'm glad we did because one day was too stormy to see sights and another day wasn't optimal.

Destination port for cruise ships, correspondingly temporarily overcrowded. All pilgrimage to Kirkjufell (known from social media), which is accordingly overcrowded. Deterrent example of Icelandic mass tourism. :-(

Definitely not worth the extra drive time, town is not set up for tourists at all, hotel was 350 euros, which was very high compared to all other night on our trip. We spent the same, but had much better accommodations. Much more to do in the other towns

The town/village itself is really quite sweet. We didn't spend much time there, but we did drive in to use the grocery store and walk around a bit. Kirkjufell Mountain is really quite stunning and one of the most recognizable Icelandic landmarks. You can just sit and look at it all day.
For such a small town, Grundarfjordur is packed with loads of hotels, guesthouses, shops and places to eat. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

This small mountain gets a lot of positive press and yes, it's kind of cool but really not all that great. We were trying to find it the last time we were here (three years ago) and drove right past it. There is a parking lot on the left as you are leaving town and you need to park and get out for the mountain to "look" like it looks in the pictures you see everywhere- with the waterfalls, etc.
There are numerous sights around Iceland that make this one look like a joke. Still...stopping for 5 minutes to get a picture or two will be worth it but you won't look back on this one and remember how awesome it was.

A gorgeous setting next to Kirkjufell Mountain!
A gorgeous setting next to Kirkjufell Mountain! It is a very convenient base for exploring the Snaefellsness peninsula. Dont miss the wonderful restaurant, Bjargarsteinn Mathus, where our meal was truly exceptional.
Easy check-in with keybox. Pretty standard hotel room in a very good location, close to Kirkjufell. Good place for an evening walk along the harbour and cute village. Breakfast was good and staff friendly. We also had dinner in the Harbour Cafe (where breakfast is served) - it was OK but not great for the price you pay. We loved the soup but the lasagna was not great, cake for dessert was clearly defrosted.
Great location. You can see Kirkjufell from the parking spot and to drive near it takes only few minutes. Caffeteria is on the first floor of the building and the grocery shop is just a minute away. Parking place has enough space. Apartments are equiped with all the necessary things for cooking. Very comfortable beds and warm interior. Moreover, apartment is very clean and the owner is friendly and polite.
This was our favorite property of our 10 nights in Iceland at 8 different ones due to the size and beautiful location. We had horses on one side and water and mountain on the other and it was close to a smaller, pretty waterfall. The owner was very responsive as we were missing towels. Not sure why all the showers in Iceland are so small but that was common but this bathroom had a nice heated floor.
The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with a great view of the Harbour. I enjoyed breakfasts around the building at the connected restaurant. I had great conversations with the girl who was working. It was easy to check-in, check-out. The hotel is located in a great place when seeing the Snæfellsnes peninsula with Kirkjufell and Kirkjufellsfoss at the edge of the town.
Excellent location, facility and layout of the property. One of our best stays in Iceland and worthwhile to visit again. Only 4 minutes from the Kirkjufellsfoss and has an exceptional view of Kirkjufell Mountain from the living area.
We were also fortunate to watch the aurora right on the patio! What an amazing combination of location, property and hospitality!
Highly recommended!
Everything. Modern, new, spacious, very clean, near to Kirkjufell 5 minutes drive. So you drive in the evening or early morning to take pictures. Breakfast cafés are in walking distance from the hotel. There are restaurants in walking distance. Supermarket and gas station next door.. Dishes and microwave in the kitchenette and Netflix.
The view from the yard over Kirkjufell Mountain is amazing if weather allows you to enjoy it. Apartment is spacious and clean. Plenty of parking just in front of the building and shops near by. Kitchenette is a bit old fashioned but does the job and if needed there is a shared kitchen in the building.
Asthildur and Jonni are a lovely couple. Our stay in Grundarfjörður was one of the highlights of our journey in Iceland. We particularly enjoyed our exchanges and the appartement was beyond our expectations. We highly recommand Bjarg Apartments and the town has everything you may need.
Beautiful location and great host, Valberg was very generous with his stories and information in response to our millions of questions about farming in Iceland. We too have sheep and horses so it was great to hear the about local Icelandic ways. Thanks from Helen and Warwick
I was amazed at how cozy and homelike it is! Well, it's a home, after all. But after staying in hostels, it was like a dream. The kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom is spacious (for Iceland) and clean, the beds are comfy and warm, and the property is gorgeous.
The flat is located in Grundarfjordur with views of mount Kirkjufell. It is really a large and very comfortable flat. It has a large and very well-equipped kitchen. Furthermore, it is ideal to explore the snaefellsnes peninsula.
Physical setting of the hotel is spectacular. For the cost of the stay rooms were very good -clean and comfortable. Easy access to the nearby small town and many of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Would definitely stay again.
We stayed at 8 different properties during our stay in Iceland and Dis Cottages had the most beautiful view of the moutains and ocean of all. The cabin was cozy and the bed was very comfortable.
The rooms were clean, and the bathrooms were spotless. The beds are comfortable. The outside of the hotel does not give a good first impression, but the rooms on the second floor were great.
Unpretentious guesthouse which is a very good value for money (the cheapest we did in Iceland). Nothing fancy but everything is very clean and functional. Nice view.
