Enjoyed the thermal baths and the valley of beautiful women, but the castle museum was a bit of a letdown. Definitely wouldn't spend more than one night here, but could even just pass through it for a short visit on the way to somewhere else.

The Basilica is a magnificent building There are lots of museums to visit, under the city, fire museum, sports museum, marzipan museum & many more Restaurants are plentiful with lovely food & wine on offer

Eger is an incredible location to visit! It has it all! From historical sites to thermal baths & wineries. Something for not just all ages but also budgets. We over heard people talking about an excellent restaurant at the citadel and indeed 1552 restaurant was esquisite!

We made the mistake of coming during the winter, we really wanted to enjoy nature in the mountains and to visit the national park. Due to weather conditions we couldn't do much and the national park was closed. The steam train nearby was also closed. It's a cute village to visit, i bet it is more beautiful during spring/summer/autumn.

The beautiful old town, relaxing thermal baths located in a charming park (there is a free parking just next to the park!), delicious food, wine and wonderful palinka, and above all, friendly residents. Visit the castle, the huge cathedral, the Franciscan church and the beautiful Esterhazy library. It is also worth visiting Egerszalok, walking through the vineyards, eating in the local restaurant and seeing the Hungarian pamukkale.

Luckily, I came across this hotel on Booking.com and it had 24 hour reception so it saved our trip in Eger. We were so appreciative upon our arrival at midnight and the receptionist and warm and understanding. We had a very comfortable two nights at this hotel. The room was clean and quiet and the location was perfect. We also very much appreciated the inclusive breakfast.ErikaUnited Kingdom

It was the view from my window. Downtown is within walking distance with many restaurants and historical buildings. The receptionist is a very friendly person. We were able to check-in before scheduled time. It was really cool that we got a big old key to the front gate of the hotel, since the courtyard closes in the evening, therefore the gates are locked too, but you can get in by using this key.

We didn't book breakfast but they accommodated us without a problem, food was good for the price. The inner garden is absolutely beautiful. Room was spacious, clean. The lady there is kind and really helpful. We highly recommend this place to anyone who like to visit Eger.

Also, the city tax we had to pay in the local currency. As we travelled with our teenage kids, it was a bit tight (just a studio), but it was OK for just one night. We asked for a hair dryer and some more towels, and the manager did his best to provide.
