The location was lovely, out of the most touristy part of Sougia but close enough to quickly drive down for a meal or to buy supplies. We were hiking the Agia Irini Gorge and it was very conventient for that.

The place is beautiful, designed and finished to a really high standard. The bed was super comfy, and all the staff that I met were really friendly and accommodating. I love the little touches, like some olive oil, washing up liquid and kitchen roll given to me which meant that I didn't have to buy these items - always an issue of waste when travelling for a short time if you want to cook.
I loved my time here and will definitely be back!

Restaurant and breakfast was very well organized with friendly staff. Shuttle service to Samaria gorge made it easy to start our hike.

It was very quiet as it is November, so end of the tourist season, but nice. The weather is still perfectly fine to go to the beach, there are still some restaurants and bars open. It's a nice little quiet place to go hike or stay on the beach without the crowds of Chania or Heraklion.

Sougia is a small village at the mouth of Agia Irini gorge, approximately 1.5hrs drive from Chania airport (we rented a car) It has a couple of mini markets and a couple of gift shops but the main street hosts mainly tavernas. The beach is a pebble beach with crystal clear water. You have access to bus, ferry and taxi services allowing you to explore the surrounding area. We have stayed in Sougia 4 times and we love the tranquility and beautiful mountainscape.

Very relaxing, chilled, and out of the way of the city...
Very relaxing, chilled, and out of the way of the city hustle. Quite the feeling of hippie lifestyle, with relaxed attitude towards nudists. The beach has both areas for people who enjoy to swim with swimwear, and without. There are several tents around the far end of the beach, and the atmosphere in bars and restaurants is relaxed.
Great place for walkers as well as those who just want to enjoy the peace and quiet. Daily ferry service, and one bus service.
I stayed in Lissos rooms which was lovely and quiet, and ate in Livikon which had excellent grilled king prawns, and the fabulous lamb and beans dish

What a place.
What a place. Only one hour walk (or 7 minute taxi ride costing only 10 euro) to reach Sougia from the monastery estate guesthouse.
Locals were friendly and took the time to chat to you about your travel plans / share local knowledge. The food in every taverna we ate in was high quality fresh local produce and the prices very reasonable. Could pass an entire day on the sunloungers, listening to the sea then going for some Greek food, then watching sunset. Also Lissos is nearby - we didn't manage to visit but we took a boat trip to palaiochora beach which was lovely. Didn't beat Sougia though!

Strategically a great place for the Samaria and Irini Gorges. We self catered so didn’t go into town other than to the mini markets where you can buy everything. The ferry to Agia Roumelli and Paelochora go from here too.

Sougia is the place to stay.
Sougia is the place to stay. Small and quiet but with a good choice of restaurants. A bus leaves every morning at 7am for the Samaria Gorge entrance. The boat leaves to bring you back at 5.30pm. Perfect.
A beautiful sanctuary in the tranquil heart of wild Cretan countryside. Exceptional and gracious service from the staff makes you feel special from the moment you arrive. Amazing views from the lovely studio apartment (we had one of the ‘older’ ones so imagine the new suites are even more special)
On site restaurant served wonderful food, and a short walk behind the hotel through the abandoned village is an amazing village taverna with spectacular views (do not miss this!)
Excellent location for the incredible local gorge walks.
To Spiti mas is a completely renovated traditional house in a quiet village in a perfect location for people who are looking for authentic places close to nature.
The food in the area is great and locally sourced. Very conveniently just across the street is a very nice family taverna and only 10 min driving away is Sougia from where you can take shuttle boats to other beaches, or buses to the Samaria and Agia Irini gorges.
The hosts are very kind and helpful, and we were overall very happy with our choice.
A nice place to stay in Sougia. Parking is a short walk down the street. The host was extremely friendly and helpful, making sure we had a place to sit on the beach, and recommending a restaurant a minute's walk away (which turned out to be excellent). He also gave good advice on hiking Irene Gorge and to Lissos. I'd happily stay here again.
Conveniently located but quiet. A very small well run family owned hotel a block off the beach. Helene also owns the small convenience store next door, great for ice, wine or what have you. We stayed in the top floor apartment with the loft bedroom. The apartment has everything you’ll need for a couple of nights or a couple of weeks.
The best thing about this room is it has a hammock to take your afternoon siesta in .
The manager Chris is amazing as well so helpful with a really personable way about him .
The bed was comfortable & the room a good size .
Don’t book anywhere else in Sougia this is the place to stay .
The Syia Hotel is a lovely place to stay while visiting Sougia. Marcos went out of his way to make certain that we had everything we needed, and his hospitality couldn’t have been better! The studio is spacious, clean and very quietly located just off the beaten track.
lovely studio and warm welcoming people. very well appointed with everything we needed. we were about 150 metres from the sea and Sougia has great places to eat amd drink. a very chilled and relaxed place to stay. Parking on site
we will stay in these studios again
Splendid quiet location, you are both in the mountains and also just a short ride away from the beach.
Lots of hiking opportunities nearby.
And a warm welcome of the hostess Wanda, who delivers a better service than if you were staying in a real hotel :-)
We stayed in May with a small family in a 3-bed room. The room had a beautiful balcony overlooking the sea and was overall comfortable to live in. The host is very friendly and helpful and we had a great time in Sougia.
This was a great place to stay for our trip to Sougia and Samaria Gorge. The apartment was spacious, super clean and well equipped. George and Eva were available to deal with any questions and made us feel very welcome.

This hotel really gives an experience like nowhere else, combined with the staff and then location you get a perfect rejuvenation.
The house is exceptional, spoilt for choice with outside areas beautifully presented with everything you need. Thank you, Eleni & Kirkoss for being fantastic hosts and making our stay in Sougia even more memorable
Amazing hotel, one of the best in Sougia. Great spacious rooms with all necessary facilities and interior design that's testament of the owner's attention to detail. Nice views from a comfy balcony. Solid 10.
