i highly reccomend Kritsa Hotel. It is located centrally in Portaria, providing parking, which is rare, and the best breakfasti had in a long time. Since it is also a restaurant every product is fresh and delicious and they also own a farm so the ingredients are local. Imagine people from other hotels visit this one for their breakfast. The restaurant is also one of the best in the aera and even if it is downstairs we didnt hear a thing. Great experience in total!

I liked:
I liked:
The traditional house architecture that has been somehow preserved and gives a unique character to the entire village.
The streams and creeks inside and around the village.
The main square with the beautiful large platanus-sycamore trees.
The views of the Pagasitikos bay from the village.
The view of the thickly wooded forests of chestnuts and walnuts.
Portaria and Makrynitsa and Pelion in general are close to what my idea of paradise is!

I really do not understand why people are going there.
I really do not understand why people are going there.
It is a very small village on the top of a mountain near Volos.Ok, the view is very nice especially during night, but You need to climb the mounting by car and you need 30-40 minutes for 9 km.When you arrive there, you will find many hotels, 8-10 restaurants, 3-4 souvenir shop, one petrol station, one pharmacy and nothing else.

Portaria is a really nice place that combines traditional restaurants with friendly people and a breath taking scenery in the mountains with a panoramic view of Volos. The trail of Centaurs is a must,as well as tasting the traditional sweets of the women's co-op.

All villages from Pelion are extremely interesting and with a local air. The view is just unbelievable. A great rustic experience which a real urban, busy traveler must have. The food, the nature, the panorama, every and each place are just mind blowing. Pelion is not the tourist oriented place, but this makes it even more desirable. So, if you choose Greece and you might need some peace of soul, this is the place.

We stayed at gastronomy hotel Kritsa in front of a 1000 years old Plane tree. The hotel shares a big yard together with 2-3 other small hotels covered by huge Plane trees. It's a magnificent place .
We've been travelling across Greece at the beginning of August 2021, in the middle of the heatwave.
We had to move from a previous Airbnb house because of the heat (and hornets) and have been able to book a room at the Lotus Tree Archontiko & Pelion Activity Lodge a few hours before reaching Portaria.
Garden seems nice but we haven't been able to take any advantage of it because of the heat.
Absolutely outstanding place! The view is breathtaking, the house is excellent, new and comfortable with classic design and lavish furnitures. There is a perfect parking lot as well. The owner - Marina is the kindest person you can even imagine to be your host - indulging you with variety of homemade breakfast each morning! Ultimately the best place I have ever stayed at when in Greece!
Portaria village is a very nice place. However the place of despotiko is not good as there's only one narrow path with stones and holes and to get to the parking is difficult. Breakfast was good but the room had no sound insulation and we were hearing steps from the floor above all night.
Staff is helpfull. Relative close proximity to east pelion beaches and towns and kentaurs path. Nice view. Friendly staff.
Relativly private parking
Nise design to hall

Minibar filled with unnecessary stuff. would have been much better if they put a refrigerator instead.
beautiful views over the valley. some of the furniture already show that the hotel was built some time back but it is still very comfortable. we tried the spa as well with a nice sauna and a huge jacuzzi. the art work decoration very tasteful
The worst service ever. No A/C in 2021 for a 3star acommodation, this is not acceptable. In the booking platform it is not written anywhere that there is no A/C. Very poor breakfast
Clean and cosy appartment
Very well designed and comfortable
Generous hospitality
