The Priory Hotel, hotel in Wareham

With open views of the surrounding Dorset countryside, The Priory Hotel is nestled within 4 acres of English cottage gardens beside the River Frome.

Beautiful, small country hotel occupying an ancient Priory, set in superb gardens by the River Frome, yet within easy walking distance of the attractive town of Wareham. The gardens alone are worth travelling to visit. The hotel itself is full of character and is beautifully furnished throughout. It also has modern amenities, in particular in the form of a very nice restaurant overlooking the gardens and river. The room we occupied was very comfortable and had a modern ensuite shower room with an excellent walk-in shower. The hotel staff were, without exception, friendly and efficient.

I did not visit Wareham itself as I was staying in Corfe Castle which is a beautiful village. I was holidaying with my dog and there were plenty of places that welcome dogs including tea rooms, the Swanage steam railway and some boat tours from Swanage.

Plenty of history. From the Saxon walls around the town.

Plenty of history. From the Saxon walls around the town. Lawrence of Arabia's final years. Old churches and the rivers on the North and South of the town. Everyone should do there homework before visiting and if there during the third week of November there is "Court Leet" an historic ceremony held each year. Certainly "you tube" is a great tool to view before making the trip.

The location was outstanding, beautiful view of the garden, birds feeding. The accommodation was very clean and on arrival parking was allocated and marked for me. Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, toast, fresh coffee, scrambled eggs and full breakfast on the last day. The area around the accommodation has much to offer, walks in the woods or on the beach that are nor far away. Wareham offers good pubs/bars with a range of food on offer.

Location was great as we were without a car. Breakfast was very good as we were 4 adults and 3 young children, the staff made every effort to fulfill our request. Few years since I was last in Wareham and still found everyone very friendly and my son and daughter in law loved the pubs. The purpose of the trip was to show my grandchildren where I grew up. (Very successful)

Very good generous breakfast. Full English breakfast very good. Very good fruit salad and yoghurt. Good service. Fantastic marmalade made locally. Nice dining room for breakfast and if it had been sunnier you could sit outside in courtyard. Very helpful friendly staff at Bear Hotel. Warm welcome and good atmosphere. Good place to meet up for lunch and evening meals too.

Very accommodating host and fantastic location for anyone travelling via train. The host let us have an early check in and was quite happy to accommodate some last minute changes in our plan. The property is quite close to the Wareham station and is just a short bus ride away from all tourist attractions like the Corfe Castle.

A beautiful, spacious house with a gorgeous garden and a large balcony for sunny days. Very tastefully decorated with everything you could want for a home from home. Very central location in pretty Wareham which is itself an ideal base for exploring Dorset. It was great to be able to bring our little dog too!

Friendliness of staff on arrival - as I arrived by motorbike and sometimes do not get the best of receptions but staff were lovely. The room was better than expected as I am used to staying in London and having worked in the hotel industry was wary of my expectations.

The lake is beautiful and the cheeky ducks are good fun (the bird seed was a nice touch!) . The studio was spacious, well equipped, and furnished to a high standard. The studio is only a short walk (20/25mins) along a country lane to the centre of Wareham.
