Beautiful property in a stunning location, rooms were very luxurious and comfortable and the views were stunning! Vicki was a great host, and the breakfasts were incredible, just what we needed before a day of hiking. It was a lovely touch coming back in the afternoon to home-baked cakes. Would recommend this property to anyone coming to Skye.

    I love Uig.

I love Uig. The locals were all so friendly and a wealth of information. It was easy to get around the island by car from Uig, and convienently close to the ferry (we caught it from Uig to Isle of Lewis).

We spent time in Uig because we were taking the ferry to North Uist and then again when we returned from Harris. There are a couple of options for food- The Ferry Inn and Uig Hotel, but they need to be booked in advance, then a cafe and a bar which does takeout food at the harbour. The brewery has a shop there, there’s a pottery and a petrol station and a small shop for food. One interesting place we found nearby was the Museum of Island Life at Kilmuir and the cemetery next door which had a monument to Flora Macdonald and is the burial place of fashion designer Alexander McQueen!

Rather small village with only a few restaurants and you need to make reservations if you want to have dinner. If not, you can drive to Portree, which is a 20 minute drive. Uig is nicely situated for visiting the northern part of the island of Skye.

    Uig is a charming village.

Uig is a charming village. If we had more time this would have been a great base to explore the Outer Hebrides Islands (the ferries departed out of Uig) and it was really easy to get to Portree on the main road. I also discovered the Isle of Skye Brewery is located in Uig, but didn't get a chance to visit.

Uig is a quiet place, perfect as a starting point for a trip around the Isle of Sky. We had a rental car, I'm guessing getting around by bus might be a bit difficult. By car we took a tour around the island, got off where we wanted (Quiraing, The Storr, Portree, Staffin Dinosaur Beach, Fairy Glenn, view points, cafés, museums, craft shops etc.) Next time I get there I'll also plan ahead a trip to the Outer Hebrides. Getting - or even staying - there requires a bit of planning as accomodation and ferries are heavily booked, but I'm sure it's worthwhile.

Uig is not only a perfect base to explore Skye, but it is quiet and ideal for peace and quiet after touring around to get away from the bustle of tourists. The Uig Hotel was fantastic for dinner and the staff were lovely. We ate in The Ferry Inn, it was exceptional. A real treat for my husband and I to have a quiet dinner. The food was excellent and the decor is lovely.

The house was dog friendly, with very little to tempt our young puppy to misbehave. The location was convenient for exploring most of Skye. We particularly liked the Faerie Glen and the beach near Staffin. The kitchen is good. We had no trouble self catering for our family of four plus two dogs. The larger CoOp on the edge of Portree had most things we wanted and the local grocery store in Uig had a decent range too. The beds were comfortable. All in all, a fine base for a week outdoors.

Booked this as the location is only a few yards from Uig ferry terminal as we needed to catch an early crossing to Tarbet. Holiday chalet is a bit of a reach as accommodation is simply a row of five living caravans. Having said that the place was clean and tidy with all the facilities you would expect however the place was a little careworn. Bearing in mind accommodation in Uig is not plentiful if you keep expectations realistic a perfectly adequate place to stay.

Great views over Uig bay from our full size window. On a clear night the star's are something special. Spacious room with everything we could need or want. Could not fault the breakfast, was delivered to our door at specified time and was delicious. Location for us was good, road's were pretty quiet as we were here end of season. Nothing we wanted to visit was too far away. Will definitely come back when the sun is shining.

We loved having a washer/dryer after a particularly wet and muddy hike. The entire house was clean and comfortable with everything we needed. It was a good location at the north end of Skye, in Uig. We enjoyed great meals at the Uig Hotel and the Bakur restaurant, and at Rankins supermarket we found all the food and supplies we needed for our stay.

The property was amazing! It was very clean and cosy. It has everything we needed for our three nights in Skye. The host was so friendly and welcoming. This accommodation is positioned close to the coast line and had great views, and was located close to some stunning hikes in Skye and only about a 30 minute drive to Portree.

George is very helpful and responds very quickly to any text message! Best hot shower in the Highlands! The jam and bread was delicious and very thoughtful. View is nice and location is out of the way, but easy access to most of the main sites. Portree is a bit too congested for me :)

Modern decor, warm and clean rooms with everything you could need. Host was friendly and helpful without being over-solicitous. Breakfast was lovely. Option of being able to stay for just one night was great as a lot of places in Uig will only offer 2 night minimum.
