Bedroom was clearly newly refurbished. There was a good walk-in shower (I prefer this to an over bath shower).. Bed was very comfy. Hotel seemed very popular with locals. Plenty of parking. Garden. Its a good location to break a journey a few miles from the motorway.

We stayed in the Strathaven as a stop-off between the Scottish Highlands and Yorkshire on a very cold snowy night. The hotel was busy with a Christmas function and other diners but the welcome was attentive and very friendly. The room was warm and welcoming and a very good standard for staying with our dog. We had room service which was lovely and a great early breakfast. The staff were really chatty and helpful. A very good choice.

Certainly a worth while place to stay. However, the impersonal approach I felt was rather unwelcome for a B&B. If you wish to present yourself as a B&B, it is my assumption there is a personal approach and personal touch to it. Not in this case. The B&B is very clean and welcoming, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are ample and of excellent quality. This is a very nice location in the countryside but within easy reach of cities and just off the M74. Nearby Strathaven has a few eateries, including the "Taal" Indian restaurant which we would recommend.
