A classic small town hotel - full of character and history. Extremely pleasant staff, always keen to help (including sorting out bike storage). A basic room that provided everything we needed. The evening meal was above expectations and the breakfast was great.

Everything. Lovely welcoming helpful owners. Beautiful place. They’ve thought of everything!

Machynlleth is a great town to visit, but very quiet on Mondays with a lot of shops/cafes closed. MOMA is great for those enjoying gallery space and there are several antique shops for browsers. The Deli near the clock tower has wonderful offerings, sadly the kitchen was closed the day of my visit but I left with bags of goodies to eat later. Wednesday is the day to visit when the market takes over the wide main main street.

I've been in love with Machynlleth for decades and will literally tell anyone to go there. Except don't, because I'd like to keep it for myself please. The highlight of one of this year's trips was the Machynlleth comedy festival which I'd not made it to before but was superb. Easy access to incredible beaches and incredible countryside. Some of the best (Michelin starred) restaurants in the country from Ynyshir to SY23 in Aberystwyth. Great shopping - definitely always make time to pop in the Deco Shop.

If you like the peace and quiet away from people with great views from every window. Sheep in the fields to watch. But close enough to everything you need ie restaurants, takeaways, pubs, walks, beach, shops etc then you’ll enjoy it as much as we did. You also had all of the amenities and equipment to cook for yourselves if that appeals.

If you want to get away from the current troubles all around the world this is a good place to be! It has all the amenities needed along with a wonderful sense of stability and sanity. I felt refreshed on leaving - as I always do over 50 years of visiting this beautiful town. I will be back!
The Co-op has a great store within a store for all sorts of bargains - like leather belts for €6 and quality copy perfumes for €4! And the nicest assistant ever!

Easy to find with good available parking.
Easy to find with good available parking. Very nice clean tidy room with comfortable bed. Tea/ coffee making provided. Towels, soap etc provided. Room was very warm, maybe a little too warm but heating wasn't on. Door could be locked and a key provided. Friendly pub 5 mins walk or evening meals. Continental breakfast included but no cooked meals.
Host was very friendly.
Would be very happy to come back and to recommend to others.
Delightfully comfortable and welcoming. Mo is a very gracious host and cooks an amazing and plentiful breakfast, she really looked after us. The location is stunning and the view from the window down to the river is beautiful. Situated in the small hamlet of Forge just over a mile outside of Machynlleth. A plate of homemade Bara Brith on arrival was delicious. We arrived on our motorbikes and there was safe level parking. A lovely comfortable lounge, conservatory where breakfast was served and cosy double ensuite room. A real home from home.
One of the most stunning and tranquil locations that we've ever had the pleasure of visiting certainly within the UK. The views along with the peace and quiet make this place well worth a visit. Loved waking up to hearing the very subtle sound of the Aberdovey steam train in the distance, the sound was faint in a way which added to the beauty and quaintness of the location. Its perfectly situated less than 10 minutes drive to Machynlleth a lovely little town that pretty much has everything..
Rhian is a wonderful host. The room had everything we needed and was cleaner than a 5-star hotel. The location is absolutely great for people who’re looking for a quiet base to discover the region - just a stones-throw away from southern Snowdonia and the Cambrian mountains. We’ll definitely stay with Rhian again when we’re back in Wales!
The welcome was warm and comforting. The staff offered help with my luggage. The suggestion for a beer and offering of a tasting was great. Breakfast was sublime and enormous even though I asked for a small one. Dinner portion was huge too. I found the fish and chips a little underwhelming. Batter was soggy and I found chips greasy.
I am amazed to receive a request for a questionnaire on our stay as we did not turn up due to my suffering a health episode. I emailed both Plas Dolguog and booking.com to cancel but never received an acknowledgement from either. I will not be arranging another stay as the lack of personal contact at this hotel is staggering.
Penrhosmawr is ideally located for visiting Machynlleth and the surrounding area.
Our room was large and comfortable. It even had fresh milk in the fridge.
It was lovely to sit in front of the log fire in the shared guest lounge on a cold, wet November evening.
A really good cooked breakfast set us up for our day.
The host, Teleri, was very welcoming and couldn't do enough for my son and I, including ferrying us to and from Machynlleth for the comedy festival. A lovely lady, friendly and extremely informative about the area. Rooms were comfy and Taleri's breakfasts (continental) set us up for the day. Diolch yn fawr Teleri!
Location, near the train station.
Machynlleth is a nice friendly town.
Beautiful view, to one side.
Relaxed environment.
Nice to meet other folk in a hostel environment and chat.
Great to be able to cook a meal.
The most beautiful village surrounded by forest with modern and comfortable hotel. We arrived late but the hosts found a way to serve dinner. Huge thanks to them for that!
Very quiet and welcoming, beautiful views and stunning location. Great base to explore the surrounding areas. Great shower and very comfortable bed, well stocked kitchen.
Lovely hotel/pub with fantastic staff and room. Situated right in the middle of Machynlleth, would certainly recommend it. The breakfast is superb as well.
