Charming little town on the River Dee with loads of attractions from the Llangollen canal to hill walking. Right in the heart of the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct World Heritage Site, so a very interesting and historical place. Not enough time to visit everything, so would like to return.

great holiday location, walking mountain biking or white water rafting and canoeing plus lots of bars / restaurants for after or instead of.
The horse shoe falls are entirely uninspiring. more of a small weir in a field.
the 20mph speed limits are ridiculous in places. steap hills and low speed mean low gears and high revs. Hardly improving the lives of those who live there.
Wales has so much to offer, nice people, beautiful hills and rivers and some of the best beaches Ive ever seen.

Llangollen was very busy on the afternoon of arrival.
Llangollen was very busy on the afternoon of arrival. Some areas are still looking shabby especially some of the original hotels which is a shame ie window frames, doors etc etc, Road works were gone which was a huge improvement from my last visit. Small businesses exist and artisan eateries seem to be doing well. Large mobile home site was full. 20mph a nightmare for locals who are having to adjust to changes in various locations at main roads in from 30 to 40? and 20 to 50 at various stretches, there seems to be little sense in the changes that have been made, New game. spot 30mph??? .

We love Llangollen.
We love Llangollen. It's such a pretty place in the middle of mountains and a fast flowing river. The historical buildings make it so interesting - medieval, Georgian, Victorian - no two buildings look the same. There are plenty of interesting shops, pubs and places to eat. The canal is so pretty too, and very peaceful. You can sit and enjoy a beer or go for a long walk to the falls and see the source of the canal. Highly recommended.
Nice hotel. Fantastic location and views. Had a large balcony room overlooking the river. Bed was comfortable. Nice listening to the rapids. Decent 3 course meal for Sunday dinner. Great focal point for walking round the Llangollen. We walked to the Aqueduct and back calling in Lalngollen for a meal one night. Lucky to get a parking space as it's limited right next to the hotel but then spotted there is ample parking above the hotel and just need cross the little bridge though maybe a bit tricky for less able with cases.
This hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Llangollen and is ideal for seeing the sights. The staff were amazing giving us a beautiful breakfast and were polite, friendly servers joint in a laugh and joke with us. The host Cathy could not have been more helpful and friendly with us making us feel very welcome from the start making sure parking spaces were ready for us and checking us into our rooms, all with a massive smile. Highly recommend this establishment and look forward to returning. Thank you.
I have not visited Llangollen for 30 odd years and fair play, Abbey Grange Hotel delivered the goods to maintain my good impressions of the area.
I was in room 6, I highly recommend it, it was spacious and very clean with en-suite.
The bar served local ales and fantastic food.
The staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful.
The local area is amazing, I was in the area on business, but can’t wait to return with the family on a holiday.
I will be back!!
Location was spot on. The apartment was comfortable and dog friendly. We had issues with hot water however that was sorted ASAP which impressed us..We had trouble with the WiFi we didn't complain as we were way to busy enjoying the fabulous walks around Llangollen. The Welsh people are so friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed everywhere we went. So many fab places to eat around the area all dog friendly. Looking forward to going back in the summer months.
The House is a pretty modern update of a traditionally built cottage with everything we needed. parking for 2 cars and 10 mins from central Llangollen. Views from bedroom, kitchen and lounge windows all grand and zero road noise (some owls about tho) It was warm and tidy, Hosts are very helpful and fast to communicate, we weren't in a lot as attending a family wedding and related get togethers. Beds were good which is always a rental bonus
Our beautifully furnished suite in Gamelin above the Llangollen marina just five minutes walk from the town centre had both front and back windows which revealed glorious views of scenic mountains. The quality of the accommodation was bettered only by the generous hospitality of Mayuri who unobtrusively provided advice and a sequence of unexpected tasty offerings
Hosts were very helpful with prompt responses to our queries before we arrived. The whole house was very clean and homely with lots of nice touches. The beds, linen and towels were all hotel quality. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. Location was perfect, 5 min stroll into the centre of Llangollen.
The staff were very friendly and everyone was willing to help with any questions nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was very good and great value. The hotel was very close to the restaurants, shops and the centre of Llangollen including the railway and buses yet was on a quiet street which was great.
2nd time we’ve visited Llangollen and both times we stayed here. Location is great. Facilities are great. Price is even better. Wi-Fi worked well enough to work remotely and there is a shed for those bike touring like us. Jamie you left such a positive impression, thank you for a great stay!
Beautiful location and lovely, comfortable, and warm cottage. Great communication from the owners as always. Secure garden for the dogs and space to sit and view the river and listen to the birds. Ideal base to experience a range of walks and easy access to Llangollen.
We stayed at this hotel for our trip to Llangollen Santa train (perfect location) Staff were amazing so friendly and helpful. Food was gorgeous too staff couldn’t do enough to accommodate us. Room was spotless. Will definitely be staying again.
great for a couple for a short visit. Close to centre of Llangollen with shops, pubs and busses. Owner checked on us and thoughtfully left us bottled water, real milk for our tea/coffee in the small fridge, and two candy bars!
Breakfast was great and plenty of assortment.
Facilities in the hotel were excellent.
Location was ideal for walking around Llangollen, and driving to the beautiful areas around.
Fantastic hideaway, ideal for getting away from reality. So close to Llangollen you can still have a taste of humanity, but really in this little sanctuary you won't want to.
