Plato's is a lovely boutique hotel in the interesting, historic, hilly, and beautiful old town of Kirby Lonsdale, which is perfectly situated for touring both The Lakes and The Yorkshire Dales. Our comfortable and nicely-appointed room was on the third floor and had a window seat that overlooked the street. Somewhat tucked away, the hotel was quiet, even though it was near the center of town. We appreciated the excellent breakfasts--and the pass for free parking in the nearly lot.

Lovely to stay on a proper farm! Too me back to my childhood days of living on a farm! My host, Mrs Bainbridge, was very friendly and helpful. Spot on breakfast served at the time requested. I loved my stay!

Absolutely everything to be honest. It was very luxurious, clean, fancy, really cool lighting options through the room, amazing bathtub with a tv with Netflix right by the bathtub, massive bed, lots of thoughtful amenities. I loved the theme of the Columbus room it was very warm and welcoming and cosy!

Fabulous historic but nicely appointed boutique hotel. Excellent food and lovely welcoming and helpful staff, especially Isaac and Louise. Great pint of Hawkshead Bitter too. Handy for the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales.

Its just a beautiful, lots of cafes, pubs, restaurants and quirky little shops. Then some great walks right on the doorstep walk down the Radical steps (I suggest not walking up them unless you are full of energy and value your knees!) then right along the river to Devils Bridge. I cant recommend the Vault at the Tourist information centre, what a brilliant was to show the history of the town and why not visit the Chocolate mine in 'Chocolate'

I’ve been to Kirkby Lonsdale a number of times as my relative lives there.
Loved the brewery, which was a hidden gem. Atmosphere great, log fires and the pizzas looked lovely.
We went to Plato’s for food. There wasn’t much vegetarian choice. Also went to Avanti one night.
Lovely walk near the river and the cottage was very central to all amenities.

We've stayed at Plato's on many occasions.
All the rooms we've stayed in have had a luxurious feel, they support a local business called Bath house for their toiletries which are excellent.
The staff have always been friendly and helpful
A special mention to the breakfast cook on this visit. She was fabulous, from taking our order,, cooking and serving a delicious breakfast. In a professional but friendly manner
Plato's is in a lovely position and Kirkby Lonsdale is a wonderful place to visit and stay.
Just returned from a 2 night stay, room very clean. Comfy bed, room was very warm but turned heating off and was then perfect for us. Pub was nice and warm. The full English breakfast was great, hot and freshly made to order. We enjoyed the 2 evening meals we had there, we thought good value for money. Friendly staff, nice pub, would recommend. Will stay again when in Kirkby Lonsdale. We used the New Road 2 car park, just up the road, which was easy if you download the parking app.
The house is very well equipped with everything needed to make it a home from home. It is a stunning property right from arrival at the front door. The view from one of the windows is a lovely place to enjoy a morning tea or coffee. Kirkby Lonsdale itself has some good shops, excellent cafés and restaurants. Although it was raining, we still enjoyed walks by the river. We visited Sizergh castle. The microbrewery in Kirkby Lonsdale was a bonus! We would definitely return.
Lovely cosy inn at the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms and fabulous breakfast. Breakfast staff went out of their way to accommodate us as well as our vegan guest. Our dog was made to feel very welcome too with his own ‘doggy treat pack’. We ate in the restaurant one evening and really enjoyed it. Local ingredients well cooked.
I was also impressed about their approach to sustainability and reducing waste.
Thanks for a fab stay
This is a charming cottage in a delightful spot right next to the church and in town. We could walk to pubs and shops, which was such fun. Parking varied, but we always found a space nearby. The kitchen was stocked with milk, butter, bread, coffee and even a bottle of Prosecco! The place is cute and cozy with room enough for two people, especially if they are not very tall. Our host was easy to contact and very responsive. We enjoyed our stay very much.
This is a very old building quite quirky plenty of parking when we arrived we couldn’t be more welcomed, although the restaurant was close at the moment due to Covid issues we went for a takeaway arriving back the owner supplied us with all the cutlery and plates we needed we took along our pup as this is a dog friendly hotel and there’s plenty of grass for her to run around. Would we go back YES we would.
This quirky property is amazingly comfortable and in a fabulous location. Decor is perfect and the addition of the outside area is fab for an evening drink, or a morning read in bed with coffee. The Kirkby Lonsdale brewery is a fantastic place to spend any hour of any day. Also recommend the bakery on the high street. The walk along the river is a proper treat, as is the nearby waterfall walk.
Exceptional location and cute cottage.
Owner had thought of everything!
Mandy cares so much that your stay is perfect.
We had a lovely weekend....
I would definitely recommend 👌
Great value for money...
I'm so glad I found this little treasure in beautiful kirkby lonsdale.
Location is wonderful in Kirkby Lonsdale. This was our second visit. Room was smaller than before but had nice window ventilation. Bathroom was neat & functional. Staff were very kind. Breakfast good. Parking is off-site and a brief walk away.
We loved the location and being in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale. We enjoyed being within walking steps to great restaurants and shops. On street parking was very easy, despite our visit during a bank holiday weekend.
The apartment was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. Situated in the market square of Kirkby Lonsdale so it's a great base to explore the area. We would stay again next time we visit the area.
Friendliness of staff, cleanliness of accommodation and the very good cooked breakfast. Central position in town so near everything and quiet despite this.
