Best pub to eat and relax is The Crown, opposite the Church.

Best pub to eat and relax is The Crown, opposite the Church. Their are some lovely country walks. The George and Born has a more lively feel in the evening and food is more down to earth, and accommodation is clean and sufficient, but small rooms. Met our needs!

The only reason we were in the area was to visit our son and grandson. Notmally we would have stayed with them but they are the process of moving so it was not possible to stay with them.. We did not even look round Kingsclere so sorry can not comment on it.

Room 3 was nice, and comfy bed, tea and coffee facilities, breakfast was enough, staff friendly. Being a public house noisy until closing due to a party. Only stayed the one night as we were travelling through.

We stayed at Bel and the Dragon and would happily stay again. The staff were friendly and efficient. The place was spotlessly clean and the food exceeded our expectations. The bedroom was very comfortably furnished and the bed was just right, plenty of comfortable pillows and high quality bedding. The bathroom has lovely products, I particularly liked the fact that single use products were not used, much more green to have refillable containers. We stayed one night to be close the Bombay Sapphire distillery, and would definitely stay again,

Kingsclere is a small village with two pubs a beautiful church and adequate services in terms of shops - a butcher, chemist and two grocery shops. It was less what Kingsclere had to offer but its location within an area with plenty of places to visit and with much to do. It was nice to be away from the pace of life these days but close enough to reconnect simply and quickly whenever you wanted to.

    Nice village with several pubs.

Nice village with several pubs. Good walking at Watership Down nearby. I ate at Bel and the Dragon but there are other places in the village. If one wished one could drive to Newbury or Basingstoke easily too.

Excellent hotel, the staff were fabulous, it was lovely to have a quiet drink in the evening without a jukebox, slot machine or large screen TV interrupting the conversation, breakfast was fantastic, the room was beautiful, super kingsize bed, complimentary tea, coffe & Sloe GIn, wonderfully decorated & a bathroom with really nice smellies, overall a wonderful stay ...thank you

A lovely little hotel - the room was very comfortable. A little small, but we were only there two nights so absolutely fine for a weekend away, and the bathroom was huge! The food in the restaurant downstairs was excellent - massively recommend. As was the choice of drinks behind the bar.

It was nice to see there has been a large improvement in quality of food, loved my meal; the hotel should though listen to previous feedback, specifically regards providing lighting between the hotel & restaurant (some 150 yards away).

Breakfast was cooked to order, beautifully cooked and presented and very substantial. The hotel has an interesting "old world" ambiance. There is a private entrance for guests which avoids having to go through the pub.
