Dunsley Hall Country House Hotel, hotel in Hinderwell

With an award-winning restaurant, Dunsley Hall Country House Hotel is a historic mansion set in beautiful grounds. The hotel is in the North York Moors, just a 10-minute drive from Whitby.

Your staff are very welcoming, helpful and generally happy people, makes one feel good from that alone. Your chef is worth a Michelin star, the soup and trout and panne cotta - I’ll come back for that alone!

We loved our accommodation the Badger Set and have just realised how good walks are around there. So we definitely must come back. As we unfortunately had only 2 nights, we couldn't walk around as much as we wanted, and we had food outside of Hinderwell. But the pub next to our accommodation looked welcoming.....

Hinderwell is a lovely village close to coast and countryside. It has some nice facilities including an excellent butcher, tea room and 2 pubs serving food. There are varied activities at the village hall and the Hub which visitors are welcome to join in, for example yoga. We felt welcomed into the local community and will definitely visit again. The only issue was that some facilities don't open on Mondays and/or Tuesdays.

Hinderwell a quiet village. On the main street available parking for the b&b The badgers set. A brilliant butchers that doubles as corner shop and newsagents. Two lovely pubs. Good bus routes.

Definitely a great place for scenic walks either over cliff tops or nearby moors. Not much in the way of eating places or restaurants, so either be prepared to be self sufficient or travel. Wi-fi wasn't 100% in all rooms and caused frustration with the kids.

Perfect spot for walking to Staithes and runswick bay as well as the beach nearby at port Mulgrave. Lovely little cafe for breakfast/lunch. Pubs are lovely, reasonably priced too and great staff in both. Chippy is spot on. 2 min car ride to a good coop for everything you need. We didn’t need the car the whole time we were there.

Very clean, great view, good size lounge/ diner, very well equipped kitchen and nice to have some basics provided (tea, coffee, milk, salt & pepper, foil, cling film etc). Coastal path on the doorstep and pubs in walking distance (quite busy with walkers in front of the apartment for those who may prefer complete privacy). Great location for visiting local beaches etc, can even get the bus from Hinderwell if you don't fancy driving!

The views from the front window was exceptional, looking over the headlands. Very clean and tidy place, with a 20 minute walk to the Badger Hound pub in Hinderwell. 2 very comfy double bedrooms, one on suite. TV very easy to operate, which isn’t always the case with these new Smart TVs. Nice to be able to walk either way from the property as it’s on the coastal path.

The cottage is located on a bigger complex of caravans and hotel rooms, but it felt private. The village of Hinderwell is small and beautiful, with easy access to all of the lovely towns and villages along the coast. The hosts were so friendly and helpful, and the cottage comfortably fit our family of 10, plus our dog, which we loved!
