Fantastic location with elegant and well furnished country house hotel. We stayed in a junior suite that accommodated two adults and our two-year old well. Lovely dinner on arrival where we were attended by a charming waiter and my partner was even able to converse with him in her native Spanish.
With oak beams and open fires, this charming 17th-century inn features a leafy garden and traditional restaurant. The Roebuck sits on the A22 road, on the edge of Royal Ashdown Forest.

In the heart of the Sussex country side located on a working farm this was a very quiet location with lovely countryside sounds of birds, sheep and cows in the background. The room was very comfortable and spacious. There was more than enough for breakfast which was delicious and freshly cooked.

Overly priced - underwhelming. staff at dinner not very attentive. Staff at check in who showed room were not overly helpful when I told them I hadn’t got the room I had paid for. Finally after some shrugging and discussion “they can have this room” we were moved. Not really much difference so not worthy any extra money. Sat with our empty dinner plates for at least 45 minutes after we had finished. We’re not asked about dessert.
Didn’t sIt any longer and left the table with our drinks to take up to our room. Not a great way to spend my birthday. We spent the next night up in runnymed at a hotel with swimming pool for less money. Think this hotel is way overpriced. Sorry

We were looking for a quiet village setting with a bubbly atmosphere which had excellent food, a great selection of complimentary wines and other drinks. The efficient and well trained staff were sufficiently attentive without being overbearing. We enjoyed a relaxing afternoon, a delicious meal and a relaxing and tasty breakfast the following morning on the terrace. The Griffin produced exactly as we expected.

Pretty setting - lovely large gardens - excellent food - helpful staff - standard double but very tiny
Plumbing in bathroom required a certain knack, which was never explained before problems occurred.
We used The Griffin for one night, which was ideal. Additional nights in our standard double would not have been satisfactory, as it was so small.

Warm welcome in the candle lit bar and our room was in a separate building at the rear . Very warm and comfortable. Lovely soft linen and pretty decor.
Bar was busy with lots of people eating and drinking. Food arrived promptly and delicious. The following morning , we were served an excellent cooked breakfast in the dining room .
stayed here for our night before travelling to Thailand from Gatwick. We love a traditional inn serving good food and this will not disappoint. Ideal for Gatwick as a alternative to the generic airport hotels only took us 25 minutes to Gatwick in the morning traffic . A visit to this venue is a must if you love really good food and exceptional service
Breakfast was mostly good, a broad range of options, but I feel to see why a small serving of yoghurt/granola should be instead of a cooked breakfast. Ordinary (very) sliced bread for toast does not reflect the hotel's food ambitions.
Dinner menu is excellent, wine list very extensive with a good range of wines by the glass.
The griffin inn is one of our favorite places in the world. The food is amazing, the staff are always helpful, and the location is wonderful. There are gorgeous views of the Sussex Downs, and it as well located to many local sites. A perfect place for a delightful vacation.
The food was excellent. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was very comfortable although a little small. The hotel's location and setting fantastic. the property was full of character and charming.
We ate dinner at the hotel; it was superb with excellent wines to accompany the meal suggested by the helpful staff.
Breakfast was of the same quality with excellent choice.
