The location, the staff, the size and beauty of the Challet. We had to change our dates due to flight cancelation and got a great response from the management even though the payment was nonrefundable. The Challet is self catering but the hotel provided free fresh bread service each day which was very appreciated. They also helped us with tickets to the castles. The service was very personal and we felt welcomed.
The rooms were nice and the bathroom on the first floor was to die for.
The kitchen is has all the appliances you can think of and tons of dishes.

This is a great area if you like a quiet village, nature, walking, hiking, biking, swimming in nearby lakes. My hotel, Alpenblick, was a perfect location for all of this. Having a car helps, but there are buses to most places in the area and train connections from nearby towns. One big hub is Steingaden from where you can get to most places. This area is a good place to slow down, relax, recuperate if you are living in a fast paced city and all that it entails. People are friendly and helpful if the hotel staff are anything to go by.

Nice village 10 minutes from the Ticketoffice for the castles (at the bottom of Neuschwanstein castle - starting point to discover the castle). Best place to stay with nice view on the mountains and no tourists (contrary to Fussen and Neuschwanstein). Some good restaurants around also :-) more localrichardlrFrance

The welcome we received was fabulous, immediately offered us a drying room for our wet motorcycle gear and an evening meal even though we had not booked half board rather than needing to head back out into the rain. Meal was so good we booked in for the following night. The location was breath taking overlooking the mountain, within easy reach of many lakes and Neuschwanstein castle. Loved the honesty bar and garden to have a relaxing drink of an evening.

The rooms are on the first floor, while on the ground floor there is a little reastaraunt where in the evening typical greek food is served. We didn't have the chance to taste it, but it smelled and looked really tasty! The owner didnt't speak English, but she was very nice and helpful and we were able to understand eachother anyway.
