Exceptional, situated in a tropical garden in the grounds of a private gated estate.
A short walk to a quiet beach perfect for swimming and surfing.
The in-house cuisine was excellent with fresh seafood and meat with the crunchiest freshest vegetables I’ve ever eaten. 10/10.
Each night they had live music which was a massive bonus. The music wasn’t loud and in your face, more a perfect in harmony with the environment and the guests.
One last thing is the guests, a really interesting eclectic mix of people with a really friendly and interesting outlook.

Playa grande was such a relaxing place.
Playa grande was such a relaxing place. The beach sunsets were amazing! Took an estuary tour with Luis right off the beach - private tour for 2 was only $70 and we saw crocodiles, monkeys and amazing birds. Tamarindo is a fun day trip (taking the water taxi, or asking to be dropped off there after the boat tour). There is a cool food truck court at the end and behind the beach that has an iguana walking about. Tamarindo was nice if you like lots of people and lots of bar and food choices but playa grande was so much more chill of a spot. Loved it and will be back! Cantarana cafe had the best coffee and almond croissants and dinner upstairs was really good. Servers for breakfast and dinner were fabulous! The Tortuga was a great spot - with the most delicious fish bites I’ve ever had! Cafe Mar Azul was so much fun- Sunday night entertainment needs a reservation. Such a good price for amazing fish dinners.

Playa Grande is perfect for running or walking on the beach, however not for swimming, snorkeling or floating. On the other side of Playa Grande (crossing the river) there is Tamarindo, a crazy town full of tourists with its own long beach. If you are looking for a laid back place, Tamarindo is NOT where you want to be. Lots of traffic and tons of people walking in the streets and hanging around. Can't imagine what is like in high season. Stores have beautiful clothes but they are pretty expensive. Definitely a surfing town, everyone walks with a board under their arm...lol.

Location, beautiful beach , facilities and great bed !
Location, beautiful beach , facilities and great bed !
Lovely responsive employees!
Restaurant next door offered excellent food .
Not sure why everything had to be paid in cash eg car rides, trips etc . That was inconvenient.
One has to have cash on hand as most business was done that way. However we were told only in “ low” season.
The location was small and intimate and easy to access by foot. A car wasn’t always needed.

Beautiful beach line. Great for surfing and boogie boarding.
Beautiful beach line. Great for surfing and boogie boarding. Trees at the beach provide plenty of shade. Long and picturesque shore line is excellent to walk in the morning or at dawn hours. Amazing sunsets.

Nice quiet area.
Nice quiet area. A limited but good selection of eating places nearby. the beach is great for walking, swimming or riding a bike. It does not have shade trees on the beach. Lots of different birds.
Go to Hotel El Manglar to book mangrove estuary boat tour. it is very good. Playa Grande is much quieter than Tamarindo but it is about 40 minute drive if you want to go to Tamarindo.

I liked the area, which is a very long beach near the national park. Note that access can be limited, as it is a very bumpy and unpaved road from the national park entrance to the villas at the end of the peninsula towards Tamarindo.
Beach was fine enough to walk in - lots of shells and surfers. Water wasn't cold, but wasn't totally warm either, comfortable temperature to walk.
If you walk down to the end of the peninsula, water taxis that are only $2 will take you over to Tamarindo, so in the end it's nice to be a bit secluded away from the action, yet still have access to shopping and entertainment if you need it. Just wave to the guys at the other end!
Great vibe, staff is amazing, incredibly friendly and hard working. Kudos to Rene, Alonso and Esteban for their great service!
Very comfortable rooms. We stayed in this same property long time ago, prior it becoming the ONDA, which was very deteriorated, so we were very pleased and surprised with how great and beautiful this place is now. The location is great to walk to the beach and besides the hotel's restaurant, there are a couple of other very close that offer a good variety of food options.
Very quiet, romantic location not far from some very good local restaurants, micro breweries, coffee shops, fruit stands, etc., and a short drivee to Playa Grande. Beautifully landscaped property with a perfect infinity pool. You are basically staying in a treehouse with modern amenities. Playa Grande is a very laid back alternative place to stay if you want to be away from the crazy hustle and bustle of touristy Tamarindo, although Tamarindo can be fun.
Friendly place, conveniently located close to Playa Grande, which is just opposite the road and a 3-4 min walk away. I liked my room, which was on stilts with a terrace. Good surfing location & the on-site surfboard rental was nice, especially as the rental is 24 hours! There is a shared kitchen and a fridge available for cooking on your own. The restaurant on site serves really good food as well. The pool was nice too.
The Glamping is situated away from the very touristic places. It is very quiet and has an extremely nice garden - like a paradise oasis. Our cabin was large and very comfortable, with lots of open space - but all hidden behind exotic trees and plants. The shower under open sky was great!
A wide beach (Playa Grande) can be reached by car in 5 minutes. It's huge and great for surfing with almost no people.
Its very private. Only 5 rooms - which is perfect. Very good food in the restaurant. Only once they were lacking some ingredients for breakfast ie. vegatables, fruit. Close and private beach - meaning no people so you get this feeling & this is amazing!
Staff is helpful and nice - the reception is in another hotel building-100m away so best is to contact them via whatsap- and this works perfect.
The room was extremely clean, the beds are comfortable and the location is just perfect. 1 minute walk to a great beach with nice waves, you can see howler monkeys next to the hotel. The food at the restaurant is delicious and the cocktails are the best. Well maintained hotel area with two pools.
10/10, the best place we stayed in CR. Definately would come back again!
The owners Mathew and Natalie were so nice, they are helpful in every situation. Breakfast was tasty and fresh. You can easily reach the beach by a few minutes walk. Playa Grande is a fantastic beach. Waves are great. Room was very clean and and comfortable, with a kitchen to use, they offer a fast laundry service. Big Thanks to Mathew and Natalie
The location is very nice, a stone's throw from a deserted beach. Wonderful sunset. The girls who prepared breakfast for us were very nice and kind. To get to Tamarindo there are little boats that cross the river until 5 pm. Around noon we were able to walk across the river, while in the evening it is not possible because of the high tide.
The staff and the property exceeded expectations. We had 22 people in our group and we were well catered to by the staff. Also, the neighboring businesses were equally pleasant during our stay. Everyone had good vibes down in Playa Grande. Pura Vida. Extra shot out to Andrea who is an angel with wings.
Indra Inn had a great vibe. People staying respectfully shared the well stocked kitchen and sometimes company. There is a full library and hammocks for lazy afternoons. The owners are attentive and kind. Within 10 minute walk from restaurants and beach and small markets.
Being near the beach at Playa Grande is a treat. Once all the building construction is finished around the property it will be fantastic. The breakfasts were very tasty. The workers were very friendly. Any request was granted by the staff.
Nice, quiet, nice design, friendly, good to have part of a common kitchen, nice area and small beach village nearby, nice little warm pool, friendly owners. Perfect 4 days for us.
The Playa grande beach was spectacular, lot's of open wide sand and seashells, beautiful water.
The sunsets were also beautiful , lot's of nature to see
