Only reason for even getting 2 points is because the guy at reception was nice and tried to make the bathroom work multiple times….

We stayed two nights at Uriel's newly constructed pool villa "Casa Cafur" in the nearby town in Santa Ana, and spent the days at his Playa Tranquila beach house (quiet part of playa Blanca)
Strong winds damaged most of the beach earlier that week so we were unable to spend the night as planned but Uriel saved our vacation with his pool villa, then we got to spend the days anyway at Playa Blanca so it was the best of both worlds. The beach is a quick 6000 peso ride from the villa.
Let me tell you, when you enter Casa Cafur you realize you are entering somewhere special. You get that "wow" feeling once you enter the doors. It's a peaceful paradise, and feels totally private. He keeps the pool clean, and the cocktails are delicious! His staff are totally cool and they take care of everything like the richest resort.
I proposed to my girlfriend at his beach house (posada donde Uriel) and when we returned to Casa Cafur, Uriel cooked us lobster and shrimp, champagne and we had the whole place to ourselves. Music, hammocks, cocktails and a clean pool.
The village of Santa Ana is cool too, we drank and danced with the locals and sharwd way too many dollar beers.
I trust Uriel and will always come back! Thank you Uriel for a special 3 days.

Wow this location is AMAZING. Truly it was a private beach all to ourselves… only one other couple there on our first night. The property only has 4 rooms total so you’re never going to have a bunch of people there. The staff were SO accommodating and patient with our lack of ability to speak Spanish. We only speak English, staff only spoke English but they always used translation making it very easy to communicate! I saw other reviews complaining about the food being overpriced and no hot water for the shower which seems silly to me after now experiencing how remote this place is! It was my toddlers first travel experience, and I was SO happy with the comfort Carey House offered. Is it a luxury hotel, no. But does it have everything you need on a remote beach location with PERFECT Carribean swimming and the best staff ever? Yes. We will be coming back!

I love how close the place is to nature, beach is amazing , the rustic cabanas are beautiful .The only thing I didn’t like it were the locals trying to sell their products in a way that can be annoying.

The only way to get from the arrival area to your hotel is to walk along the beach with your luggage or by boat. When the seas are ruff and there are no boats you must carry your luggage through the sand and water. Depending where your hotel is, that could be a mile. There is one tiny bodega on the beach to buy soda and beer and not much else. It’s best for a short stay.

Horrible place, instead of the sea breeze you'll enjoy exhaust from the dozens of motorboats and scooters cruising everywhere without any rules. They make a horrible noise all over the day, combined with loud music from each bar it caused a headache. Food and drinks are extremely expensive, we got poisoned by some food there being sick for 3 days.
Trash is everywhere behind the beach line.

Before 11 am and after 5 pm, it is beautiful. Between those hours, however, there are an overwhelming number of visitors and vendors. The water is full of so many people offering rides on jetskis, banana boats, tour boats, etc, that rather than smell the ocean air you smell gas. If you want peace and quiet you need to trek about 2 kms to the peaceful section of Playa Blanca.

Baru was a big surprise for us in all the right ways.
Baru was a big surprise for us in all the right ways.
Family of 3 with a 10 year old, stayed 6 days, 2 different hotels.
Beautiful white sandy beaches, turquoise colored waters and fresh sea food ( learn your prices and always check before accepting anything).
The family time spent there is unforgettable. The people are kind and respectful. The island is safe and after 4pm starts to calm down and at 7-8 pm it's quiet and peaceful.
Most people spent a day and leave, but i recommend you stay and do the activities. We did snorkeling and raccon as well as the Plancton (DO NOT MISS IT! ).

Nena beach resort AC, pool and beach beds.
Amazing Staff and rustic/minimalist atmosphere. From all the places, hotels and hostels this is for sure one of the best places to stay in Baru. Luis (the owner) and all the staff was really attentive and cared about all requests. Good food and breakfast. Lovely dinners by the sea...
The place is extremely rustic, romantic and cute all built in wood structure.
Missing some commodities but that's the spirit in wild Baru ;)
Good white sandy beach, local food and blue sea!
The property itself is very nice. The rooms felt really modern, lovely bathrooms and good amenities. The beach and bar were great and the staff very accommodating and the food at the hotel was delicious with loads of options to choose from. We did a couple of activities through the hotel and all were great (especially the snorkelling one!). To top it off we had one of the best massages by the beach - highly recommend!
WE.LOVED.EVERYTHING. The staff was wonderful; so friendly, informative, they seemed proud of where they were working. The location was a fairytale-the beach, the walking paths, our room, the nature, and the breakfast. Despite the remote area the wifi was fabulous. We were pleasantly surprised to have the added bonus of being able to take a boat (provided by the hotel) to visit the hotel's private island and beach.
The hotel is right on a white sand beach, and all rooms have stunning ocean views. It has all the amenities we need. Though we only used our room for a day trip, we enjoyed every bit of a few hours there. One of the owner/managers arranged the transportation to go back to our Cartagena airbnb, to the extent he walked with us in the night to the cab parked some distance away. We very much appreciated it!
We booked this place the day of-it was hard to find a good deal, and this seemed like it would be good for the price. The best thing about the place were the staff-they were kind and attentive. Also, purchasing the inclusive meals was a good deal, since food in the area can be upcharged. The staff also gave us the hook-up to some local private island viewings that were a good deal.
Contact from the hostel was great, they arranged the transport from my hotel in Getsemani to the hostel for 100,000. I had a driver collect me, drive me to Baru, where I was met by someone who helped carry my luggage to a boat that took me to the hostel - 10/10 for this part. I also had the same for my return.
The location is also great just a few steps from the ocean.
Rafael and Sol we’re just wonderful. Tjhe proximity to the beach and ocean were great. The staff was so helpful. They helped us arrange transportation from the airport, including a van and taxi boat, as well as boat transportation the next day to enjoy the islands and go to our next hotel destination. So nice!
The location was a bit remote but that is what also made it wonderful. The staff was very kind and the food was excellent. By far the best ceviche I had in Colombia. The rooms we very nice and the beds were very comfortable. The views were spectacular. I would definitely stay here again.
The location is beautiful. The hotel Park with all the wild animals is lovely. The huts are nice and you have privacy. The food and the service in the Restaurant in the evening was great. Also the Telescope to watch planets and stars in the evening was one of our highlights.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The pool was a great way to escape the midday heat and crowds on the beach. The food was well prepared. I appreciated that there was always somewhere for hotel guests to sit and relax, even with day time visitors.
Great customer service the staff were very attentive and friendly. It's a lovely hotel I would recommend. The boat tour to visit other islands I would recommend if you wanted to party or experience something different, it is bespoke so up to you.
Excellent location at the end of Playa Blanca, away from the crowds, the only downside is there's no beach in front of the hotel however it's beautiful right on the rocks with the waves crashing below you!
The staff was attentive to every need we had, they were very kind and did their best to help us with whatever they could, even transported us back to the entrance and brought us back to Cartagena Terninal.
All the hotel environment is perfect, one step on the sand another on the water.
The staff are just incredible, they're all very attentive and friendly.
I really recommend to eat the hotel food, so good!
Gorgeous location and view. Good drinks. Nice service around the pools. Clean. Set in the natural environment and very picturesque. Excellent boat service back to Cartagena.
Amazing location just in front of a wonderful beach. Not too many people compared to the rest of Baru. The people are very kind and ready to help you at all times.
