IceBerg Inn, hotel in Churchill

IceBerg Inn provides accommodations in Churchill. The property has a tour desk and free WiFi. The rooms at the hotel come with a private bathroom equipped with a bath.

My answers are based on the fact that we went to a remote, northern Canadian town to see the wildlife, not to have an exceptional hotel experience. The Iceberg Inn was as expected, basic, no frills, but with all the needed basics. It was located in the center of Churchill, so dining or tour operators were an easy walk. Bill & his wife are very nice, and gave us good advise on activities.

Inukshuk Rooms, hotel in Churchill

Inukshuk Rooms is a recently renovated homestay in Churchill where guests can make the most of its garden and terrace. This homestay provides free private parking, a shared kitchen, and free Wifi.

Dave and Celine were exceptional hosts. Not only did they pick us up at the train station but also made themselves available for all of our needs. They used maps to help us navigate the town and shared details on places to go and places to eat. Knowing that I wanted to see Northern Lights, Celine spent over an hour outside with me showing me where and how to take photos. An amazing experience I will never forget and am deeply thankful to her for doing this. Their home is immaculate and replete with all kinds of photos and local artifacts. It was a wonderful experience for us. We will definitely stay there again when we return. And we will let others know of their lovely home.

Bears Den Guest House II, hotel in Churchill

A recently renovated guest house, Bears Den Guest House II offers accommodation in Churchill. This guest house features free private parking, a shared kitchen, and free Wifi.

Bears Den II is a cozy, comfortable, spotlessly clean place to call home when staying in Churchill. Well appointed with comfortable furniture, very comfy beds and pillows. Dark curtains (helpful if you’re there during the long days of summer!) A thoughtfully and fully equipped kitchen. They really thought of everything! It’s an easy walk into the center of town. If you're coming to Churchill in October it's almost certain you're coming to see polar bears. If you're arranging your own trip you won't do better than staying at the Iceberg Inn. It's small, clean, convenient and Angela & Bill are excellent hosts with fantastic local knowledge and contacts. A brilliant trip - saw the bears and much more and had a really enjoyable stay. Can't recommend this place & host enough!

Polar bear sightings and beluga whales.

Polar bear sightings and beluga whales. Unfortunately the Northern Lights didn't play ball on the 2 nights I was there. Very expensive for food and very limited grocery stores. There is a community centre with a swimming pool and a great little free museum.

You really have to consider signing up for tours as walking around or driving is not a practical option. There are bear patrols in town but you are strongly advised not to venture out of town on your own or go out after 10 PM. All the tours we took were eco-friendly and well-organized. Lazy Bear lodge has a very comfortable, though pricy restaurant/cafe.

For anyone who is interested in nature and wildlife or simply curious about life in this isolated arctic town, it’s worth the long, slow journey to visit Churchill at least once in your lifetime; particularly if one is a Manitoban or even other Canadians for that matter. We had the good fortune to see three wonders of nature (polar bears, beluga whales & northern lights) as well as getting to know the friendly locals, and learning first hand about the tremendous history of the town in one visit.

Churchill Manitoba has been on our list for a few years and...

Churchill Manitoba has been on our list for a few years and is a magical place to visit and encounter. The vast tundra surrounding this quaint town huddled up to the great Hudson Bay. Polar Bears were fantastic with multiple sightings over the week we visited. Thanks to Beyond Boreal Expeditions for amazing opportunities to be up close to these fascinating creatures! To get around the town you can walk easily to a variety of restaurants and there is enough variety to keep you happy. Be aware that during Bear Season October and November, the large Bear Viewing Companies take precedent over the times the restaurants are serving and food can take a bit longer to receive once ordered. Not only can you see Polar Bears in the wild during their migration to the northern ice, there is so much history, with The Prince of Wales Fort and Cape Merry Battery, the former Churchill Army Base and Missile Launch Facility, Miss Piggy Plane Wreck All which you need to take part in. We especially found the Churchill Northern Studies Centre very interesting. This is truly an Outstanding Destination to Visit!!

Sarah and Taylor have a lovely B&B that's about a five minute walk from the main road. The rooms are small, but comfortable enough that we didn't hesitate to stay with them a second time after a previous visit during polar bear season in 2018. All hotels in Churchill are fairly basic, but this is the best of the bunch Highly recommended.

Taylor went out of his way to be helpful the whole time. He collected me from the train station, took time to walk me through a Churchill map, let me continue to use the room for the entire final day (it hadn't been booked that night), and dropped me back to the station. I really appreciated his kind and helpful attitude.

Travelling to Churchill for work. The hotel is centrally located, a few steps from the store, train station and restaurants. Bill picked us all up from the airport and was so accommodating, communication was excellent. There was a great communal area. Rooms are simple but cosy and comfortable.

The owners and staff were great! Because of train issues, we were stuck in Churchill for a couple extra days. The owners found us a room for the extra two nights and couldn't do more to make sure we were looked after. The hotel is in a great location, easy walking to everything.
