Convenient for a nights stat. East check in and out. No hassles. Clean and I think recently redecorated.
The male receptionist was rude and unhelpful. When presented with a dirty tissue left in the room he said "it is what it is". The room was not the Deluxe King Suite that we booked for. The room was infested with cockroaches and we killed 6. Obviously they knew about the problem because there was a tin of cockroach spray sitting on the table. There was no bedside lights for reading in bed. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Best thing was location and parking.
Best thing was location and parking. Not so good things; motel rating should be 2 stars not 4 the rooms need renovating. The bathroom was old needing total renovation. Chinese restaurant in the RSL had ordinary food.

The frog sculptures are innovative.
The frog sculptures are innovative. The Discovery Centre is very good and the food at the cafe there was tasty, well presented and competitively priced. The Swing Bridge and associated walk was very handy and close by. Yanga Homestead and Woolshed are definitely worth visiting. The Bird Walk and Wetlands Walk was worth visiting. We would recommend the meals at the Services Club too.

Great place to break our drive from SA to ACT.
Great place to break our drive from SA to ACT. They were fantastic at accommodating a late arrival and very early departure. All communication was friendly and helpful.
It was a chilly night, and an additional spare blanket would have been great as we were a party of three.
Will definitely stay here again when we are breaking the drive across.

Like many small towns there is much of interest, and interesting history, once you start looking, eg. by going to the Discovery Centre. There seems to be considerable local pride in the town and every one we met was very friendly and helpful. We have eaten at the club a number of times and the current menu options are excellent. On our most recent stay our evening meal was kebabs from Outback Kebabz, which were excellent. The Discovery Centre cafe does great coffee and an excellent place for breakfast or lunch (big thumbs up to the egg and bacon rolls).

Balranald is a great country town with good facilities and plenty of interesting things to do. Make sure to visit the excellent Visitors Centre with probably the best Bathroom facilities available on this route across the Hay Plain.
Balranald is a small town on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. We stayed here as a base to travel daily the 150 KMs up to Mungo National Park. Sturt Motel was well patronised over our 4 night stay and is centrally located in Balranald town centre, an easy walk to all shops and eateries. The Motel is typical 1970's style single level motel units. Our unit was clean, with a queen sized bed, ample bathroom, good TV and internet. The room was suitable for our needs and we enjoyed our stay
Room was large. Shower, bathroom was clean and looked new. Kitchenette area had enough utensils to have breakfast with our own supplies. Also had a 2 seater couch and a table with 2 dining chairs. The Balranald Club was right next door so we had some drinks after a long day’s drive. The meal we had at their Chinese restaurant was only average, 5/10. There a couple of takeaways right across the road which may be a better option.
The location, off the main street means you don't get noise from the heavy goods vehicles that are frequently passing through Balranald. While the motel buildings are dated (from the 1960s I estimate) and room size smaller than many newer motels, the proprietors have clearly made every effort to fit the room out as well as possible for a comfortable stay.
Shamrock hotel is in a great location in the centre of town. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. Fantastic that the hotel is pet friendly and accomodated our puppy. It would be great to see other hotels offer what the Shamrock does. Good value. Great having a restaurant open on Sunday night after a long drive.
Location was terrific. Right next to the RSL club and take away shops. Good to have parking under shade as Balranald can get very hot. Nice to have a table and chairs outside room. Most rooms have parking out front of room.
The room was clean, with super comfy beds, spotless linen and towels.
Great WIFI.
Unfortunately, their restaurant was not open, as there are so few options for food in Balranald.
I have been staying at the Balranald on my way to and from Adelaide since the mid 1980s. It has always been a pleasure, due the staff, its owners and the facilities available.
My wife and I believe there is a better availability of meals in Balranald compared with Hay - the only two obvious places to stop on our way between Sydney and Adelaide.
The hotel is excellently located and in walking distance of all facilities.
The room was basic but comfortable.
We had very friendly service on check in and check out.
Quiet old-fashioned motel off the highway (which matters in Balranald). Parking just outside the room. Friendly host. Near the river and a nice walk through the bush.
Convenient location on the outskirts of Balranald. They were able to allow access for a high vehicle via a side entrance.
Rooms were clean and comfortable.
