The capsule hotel features certain units that include a safety deposit box, and every room is fitted with a shared bathroom with a bidet and a hairdryer. At Hostel Sui Kyoto the rooms are fitted with bed linen and towels.

The owner, Masa-san, was an incredible host. He gave us some amazing food and onsen recommendations that turned to all be winners. He was an absolute joy to speak to. The rooms were spotless and had a very sleek and modern but also timeless design. We stayed in the triple room with a double and bunk bed. It had a small fridge and enough space. The bathrooms are also very clean and there are enough that it is not crowded. The lounge is cosy and has all you need to cook and you can get ramen or drinks here for 100 - 200 yen. There are tons of free ammenities like coffee, tea, shampoo and body wash and you can even do your laundry for free. For the very low price we paid, this is arguably the best hostel I have ever stayed at. Highly recommended, if I ever come back to Kyoto I am staying here again, no doubt about it.

Just a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station, The Millennials Kyoto offers capsule units with modern decor. The property offers free WiFi in all areas and for an additional cost, bicycle rentals are available.

Great central location, great value. Much better than a capsule or traditional dorm hostel but similar price. Really enjoyed the size of the pods and the entire set up overall. Comfortable privacy. Very quiet on the sleeping floor. Excellent bathroom and shower facilities. All toiletries included. Great social area with kitchen and work stations. Breakfast was good and simple. There’s a daily free beer hour. I didn’t partake but it’s a good way to meet people. There’s a rooftop but I didn’t go. Great access to all major sites via walking, bus, or metro. Would definitely recommend for a solo traveller. Would definitely stay here again!

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Every one of them spoke English. The common area is spacious with lots of room for activities. The beds are nice and clean and each capsule has lots of room. Security also a big plus with a big locker with a code, a safe by your bed, and key card scanner to enter the dorms.

Looking for a capsule hotel?

Developed in Japan, these cheap “pod” hotels are a novelty for any traveler. With rows of small single bed enclosed capsules, accommodations are basic and intended to be overnight. There's separate storage for luggage and gender-separate communal bathrooms. Some capsule hotels also have a sentō – a Japanese bath house, usually for male guests only.

Very stylish hotel with cozy and comfortable traditional Japanese style rooms. The staff was friendly and helpful, the location was very convenient, we explored different areas of Kyoto on foot and public transport. It wasn't cheap, but would definitely love to stay here again.

Front desk staff very friendly and speaks English, Chinese and Japanese. More than a capsule, it's a unit so you have room for half standing and use the bed as chair. The common spaces are cozy and artistic with is a nice background for zoom calls.

Super friendly and helpful staff, everywhere brand new and spotless. Great location right by Gion and all the temples. My first time in a capsule hotel, but my worries were needless as the bed was spacious and comfy with its own private ventilator! The manager even let me use his personal mobile for a long emergency call to my insurance company in UK. Definitely 100% would recommend - thanks guys! X

Room design is great, a mix of modern amenities, meticulous attentention to detail and traditional Japanese style. The hotel provides yukata for all guests and a face massage for us to borrow. The owner was extremely friendly and gave great recommendations. Location is convenient with less than 10 mins walk to Kyoto station and there is a department store less than 5 minutes away.

The location is easily accessible and just at the road side. You can arrive by bus easily. It is cheap by taxi as the location is not far away from Kyoto Station. It has some taste of Japanese traditional Onsen hotel. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Everything is clean and with such price, you cannot demand for more.
