This is a hidden gem. We arrived in the evening to Dublin airport and wanted to drive an hour or so on our way to the westcoast before resting for the night. We are so happy we found this place on the quite Irish countryside. Great reception and welcome from the owner. The breakfast was great. Full Irish breakfast with bacon from the own farm.

Due to some time issues in our vacation plan we had to find a place for the night spontaneously. Booking was easy and no problem at all for a decent price. The host is super nice and the breakfast was delicious. We would come again.

Quietly situated, the family-run Shelmalier House is just 5 minutes’ drive from the town of Athlone. It features a sauna, free Wi-Fi, and free private parking. This place was wonderful. The owner Jim went out of his was to make us welcome and comfortable. There was glitch in our plans and Jim went out of his way to get it fixed fot us. It was raining and we got wet and cold-he brought us a heater.that warmed us up. He could not have been more helpful. The room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend this place. 😀
