Quiet, Clean and Comfortable Room and Bed. Location good easy walk to the Lake front, Shops and Restaurants. Reception and Staff friendly and helpful. The small kitchenette and BBQ great for self catering. Good starting point for a day trip to Milford Sound. Hot Tub was a real treat at the end of the day. Overall Very Good Value Accommodation.

Check-in was perfect. Our room was very spacious, well equipped for self-catering and perfectly located for Queens Park and the city centre. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

Amazing location and views provided a great base for exploring all of the Catlins. A reasonable price for this type of motel accommodation in the area. Well set up for self catering with electric frypan, microwave and hot plate. Beds were comfortable and the unit was very clean and well presented.

Well equipped for self catering. Near to centre. Clean and spacious. Outside seating. Great view though large front windoes of the lake and mountains. Very useful to have the laundry and space to dry washing outside.

Very comfortable, clean and quiet accommodation close to everything in Te Anau. Our cottage was well equipped with everything required for self catering, including a barbeque on the deck. Birchwood cottages are great value for money and I would totally recommend them. Day tours to Milford ( including the boat trip) are also offered for a good price.

Overall the room was clean and had self catering. Was a one night stay so met its purpose.

Geat home-like atmosphere with excellent facilities and beautiful garden. The photos don't do it justice. Merlyn was a lovely and kind host. Nice mix of guests in the dorm and private rooms.

Great value for money for a lakeside room. We enjoyed being in walking distance from town and having all the necessities for self-catering. Would definitely stay again. Recommend visiting the bird sanctuary nearby. While I am against holding animals in captivity, this is a sanctuary for injured birds that would not survive in their natural habitat due to their injuries. A compromise of some sort. Really enjoyed watching Takahe and Kakariki.

Lovely old hotel in beautiful condition. Clean and comfortable, well appointed. Lovely touches everywhere including lots of old kiwiana so that you could feel like a step back in time. Loved that. The kitchen, dining and lounge area available and well stocked with all you would need for self catering. The self check in worked well with bike storage facilities for those on the trail. Thank you for a lovely night. Would highly recommend.
