Bergama is one of the Stops that I did for the Bike tour in Izmir. Pergamum Acropolis is the main highlight of the area and worth the visit.
The town is quite quaint and was a refreshing change from the city where I came from.
I was travelling on a bike - so getting around town is quite easy enough, walking through town was also pleasant.
Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes - as the city is on cobbles and quite hilly.
Across from the Bergama Museum - there is a nice outdoor Beer Garden where one can have some kebabs and beer.

It is a must seen site.
It is a must seen site. Both Akropol and Asklepion are one of the best in ancient history.
Lovely landscape and rich history. Please do not expect night life here. Todays Bergama town might be a little difficult to drive around, cause it has narrow, one way streets like in Spain, but GPS works really well. It is safe for solo travelers too.
We stayed at this hotel for 8 days, and it became a much beloved home for us within a week. The 200 years stone house, wonderfully renovated by the owner, Vedat, is sooo beautiful to live in. Er loved the room with wood floor and ceiling, the wonderful small courtyard that offers a cozy place even in heavy rain, the beautiful flowers and the lovely Turkish breakfast. Probably the best was the warmth, friendliness and hospitality of Vedat and Nur, his assistant that made us take this place as a wonderful home.
Great place. Staff, restaurant, pool, breakfast - all amazing. The room was outdated but exactly as shown on the photos so no surprises.
Location really good for visits to the Pergamon ancient city. Don’t get fooled by signs telling you the walk back down to the hotel from the Pergamon is 6 hrs. It is not and well worth the effort.
We didn’t get out of the hotel much bc we really enjoyed it there but it seems Bergama itself has some rather nice spots.
The Hera Hotel was a wonderful place to stay! The family that runs the hotel was a delight to know. Mr. Alexander, his wife and son were very kind, and welcomed us so warmly. We felt as good old friends. They did all they could to meet our every need and to make us feel at home. The hotel breakfast was fantastic with an awesome view. Mr. Alexander gave excellent tips of places to visit and eat. All together Fantastic! I highly recommend it!
This is a hotel in a small village in the hills. It is a 30 minute drive either to Bergama or to the beach.
The rooms are basically just standalone stone buildings. The owners are a charming family that do everything they can for you to feel amazing! It is quiet and comfortable (aside from the Mosque that may wake you up early in the morning).
The breakfast and the dinner in the evening (included!) are delicious and tasty!
ELovely Day Receptionists with good english from Macedonia.
..and for the Bergama Akropolis..goats and cattle are everywhere in the ruines. So i say; when goats and cattle can go around for free, I can! Go uphill pass the big gate and the few houses and then try up the goattreks a way and your inside.Nobody is checking people.
The couple that own this hotel are very sweet and accommodating. They did their best to help us find space last minute after driving into the area past midnight. Their rooms have good AC, comfortable beds and shower was hot and strong. The breakfast was delicious.
Our room was spacious, spotless clean and quiet.
The hotel it self is very well looked after and staff working there is friendly. Location is also great with only few walking minutes away from the red basilica and also has a view of the Akropol.
The hotel staff was super kind and welcoming! The rooms were spacious, clean! We came late in the evening and had a glass of wine in a romantic atmosphere next to a fireplace!
The hotel and people there are great!!! Special thanks to Omar!
I liked everything, a wonderful hotel. The room was spacious and clean.
I am impressed with the service. They helped us park the car, directed us to a good restaurant for dinner.
I would visit the hotel again.
We were shocked when we arrived at the hotel. It was clean, and with the gate we felt very safe. The rooms were average (we had a 3 person room). BUT THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! Don't miss out eating there!
We only stayed one night, but the experience was good. The hotel has just a few rooms, it is cozy and has a character. It feels very relaxed and a very personable owner just adds to the feeling.
Located in a beautifully restored old building in the old Town of Bergama. Rooms had a vintage touch. Only a few minutes by car to the red basilica and to Pergamon site. Breakfast was good.
A warm welcome and smooth check-in were the excellent start to an excellent stay. If you find yourself in Bergama, then look no further than this hotel where nothing is too much trouble.
The hotel is located in the old and crooked streets of Bergamo, within walking distance to the Acropolis.
It is an old building with modern equipment, ideal for a one-night stay.
The place is very centrally located and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond with helping us get a parking spot right at the front of the hotel.
