It was not very crowded in mid May, but it is getting hot...
It was not very crowded in mid May, but it is getting hot then. We understand that Tikal can be very crowded (3-4000 people per day) around December, January and into February time frame. If you stay in one of the hotels in the park, be prepared that there is no electricity (i.e. no fans, no internet, no charging devices, no lights, and limited water pressure) during periods of the day, after 9pm or before 6am.

In my opinion much better than trying to do a day trip from Antigua, which is 45mins - 1hour away. Staff organized shuttle from Flores airport and also shuttle to Flores when I was leaving. I liked the pool and the ease of the shuttle for getting to Jungle Lodge from Flores and then to Mundo Maya airport. We liked that we could pay for everything with a card. Worth the splurge for the location and the food if you can swing it. Accommodating staff. Quiet, with only the sounds of the jungle. The bathrooms are beautiful!
