House of Shells
Can you count the shells? This 16th-century palace is covered in them. It was built by Don Rodrigo Arias de Maldonado – a knight from the Order of Santiago de Compostela. The order's symbol is the seashell, and he thought it’d be perfect to have them all over his palace. The result is Casa de Conchas, a seashell-studded marvel.

Enjoyed exploring the maze of alleys, got lost a few times but that's ok. We acquired several street maps, the best for us was the one given to us by the tourist office. Good views from Pl.Carvajales and Pl.S.Nicolas.

Whether you're inside Alhambra, or looking at it from the outside; it is awe inspiring. Some of the best views of the Alhambra are from the Albaicin neighbourhood. And while the Mirador San Nicholas is the more popular places, head up further to Mirador San Miguel. Admittedly, it is a bit of a climb. But the climb is completely worth it. Don't forget to soak in the beauty of the neighbourhood as you're walking though. It is as beautiful

The Albaicin, or more correctly Albayzin, is the old muslim part of the town. Very atmospheric is however a place to be avoided after sunset, especially by women. At anytime stay away from the area around Mirador San Nicolas, where pickpockets abound.

What a lovely place to walk around and explore.
What a lovely place to walk around and explore. At night there's the hustle and bustle of the shops lower down the hill, but walk a little bit up you end up in alleys and gorgeous doorways. Also glimpses of the Alhambra at night. Perfect for a great photo in some location. We also climbed higher during the day and had a great view of the city.

Use the application GPSmycity for a wonderful self-guided tour in Albaicin. Go with the bus to the highest point and hike down the area for amazing views and cultural impressions of the old arab houses. Finish your tour with a Flamenco show at one of the Gipsies Caves in ElSacramonte. You will have one of the remarkables days of your lifes.

For us, this was much the best area of Granada.
For us, this was much the best area of Granada. If you can manage the steep steps up through the Old Town towards the Alhambra, hive off down some of the little streets and soak up the fabulous views, quaint houses, lovely architecture and atmosphere.
Avoid the 'tourist traps' who advertise Flamenco shows and find some authentic musicians who play in tiny clubs like El Tabanco instead.

A really lovely apartment, very clean and cozy with an incredible view of the Alhambra. The balcony overlooks a lively square below with musicians and several cafes. The location is perfect. You can walk or take a bus to up the Alhambra or the Albaicín. There are many shops and restaurants nearby, and small, well stocked grocery store is just a few doors down. I was very comfortable here. I stayed for a week but could easily have stayed longer!
Real nice hotel! Placement perfect for most of the major attractions, surrounded by lots of good restaurants, across from a taxi stand, at the start of Albaicin and the Calle Durro - location can't be beat. Upscale feel. Nice bathroom and water pressure. Clean large room. Staff very helpful. Good restaurant associated with hotel with good 15e pp breakfast buffet (although no variation). Really pleased with choice for our 3 nights there.
The apartment has a very good location at Albaicin area. The apartment is very nice, with all the amenities needed. It felt very cozy. It also has a common terrace with a view toward Alhambra. Communication with the host was good and smooth. Totally recommend!
This apartment, while a bit small, is so well appointed and comfortable we had everything we needed. It has a great balcony that overlooks the city and an amazing rooftop terrace. The host Begonia was so responsive and helpful - as well as being very sweet. She even parked our car for us! The apartment had milk, jams, and treats to get us through breakfast the next morning. It was in a very authentic area of the Albaicin. The sunsets were amazing!
This location and the apartment is great! Online check-in and getting to the apartment was easy and without problem. Their system works well! The apartment is spacious, clean and kitchen is in perfect condition. Ac is working so it's nice and cool when you come in. The welcome gifts are so nice! Beds are comfy and big. We really liked everything about it! Couple minutes walk from restaurants, bars, Albaicin and Alhambra is just around the corner. Highy recommended place for Granada visit!
Juan, the apartment manager, was always helpful and gave some great advice to me over the photo spots or how to get Alhambra. Located in the heart of Albaicin district of Granada, this apartment provides spectacular views over the Alhambra from its great roof-top terrace 24/7.
Evereything was in a short walk from the apartment and it’s in the perfect location. Highly recommend.
The location was amazing! Walking distance to the most important sites, The Cathedral of Granada, the Royal Chapel where the Catholic Monarchs are buried, the Alcaiceria, the Bib Rambla Square, the Madraza, and the Albaicin. The Alhambra was close, but not a walk we wanted to take in such hot weather (very uphill) but is still walkable and can be seen (at a distance) from the Albaicin The hotel is right next to a market with many food choices and many other restaurants.
This Hotel is in an excellent location. Part of the old town very central and easy to walk to places. There were lots of restaurants close by. We walked to the Alhambra, all up hill, as well as the Albaicin area, also uphill. Staff was friendly and helpful. Did a bag of laundry for 25 euros.
The breakfast was good with a variety of breads, meats, cheese etc. and is up on the terrace. Beautiful views of the City. Would recommend this place or stay again if in Granada.
Super cozy hostel right in the middle of Albaicin, the medieval part of Granada. The decorations are on point and the rooms are super cozy, each with their own character. Beds, bathrooms and common areas are all clean and well maintained. The staff are super friendly and are always ready to help you out. Feels more like a collective than a hostel.
