- Excellent facilities - Character property with beautiful grounds - Good location and plenty of parking - Good breakfast and nice dinner in the Tavern - Friendly staff (although seemingly stretched)
The food was lovely we had a Sunday dinner and nice breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Some nice touches such as hand-wash, hand cream, shower gel, apple juice and complementary biscuits. All local produce. The pub was cosy with a log fire and rustic feel. We had stayed in Scotland for weekend so was just a stopover to break up the journey home so was good for what we needed.
The location is perfect for lovely walks.... Kate the host goes above and beyond any guest house owner we have met. The breakfasts are to die for all freshly cooked and lots of options and are served with a smile. The rooms are spacious, exceptionally clean and are lacking for nothing. The toiletries supplied are excellent quality. Have absolutely no hesitation in recommending. You are treated like part of the family from beginning to end. Loved it and cannot wait to return.
Lovely old character inn, rustic charm but full of comfort. Hostess was so welcoming food was amazing with gluten and dairy free options - bedroom was cosy with everything you would need 😁 will definitely stay here again on another trip to Scotland
-friendly helpful innkeeper, cosy attic room, pleasing decor, good refreshment choices, good access to restaurants and transport, pleasant neighbourhood near the library
We had a lovely room at the front if the guest house. Decir was lovely. The cooked breakfast was delicious. Dawn was welcoming and friendly and made us feel at home. She gave us lots of good recommendations for places to go for dinner and sightseeing.
The George is an attractive historic inn in the centre of Keswick. It has a very good restaurant, where we had both a breakfast and two dinners. The food and service were excellent. The rooms were very comfortable. There were good drying facilities for wet clothes caused by being out walking in wet conditions.
Idyllic location with historic and rustic buildings. Pastures with sheep grazing adjoined the accommodation. The on-site, historic pub, where we had a tasty dinner and an equally good breakfast, was charming and comfortable. Adjacent to the pub there was also an extensive outdoor seating area on a large lawn that we and others around us enjoyed, and where we enjoyed drinks from the pub.
Spacious bathroom with bath and shower. Room was bright and clean. Good veggie cooked breakfast plus the usual selection of cereals, fruit & yoghurts. Guest house was only a few miles from Windermere. Great pub (Watermill Inn) in short walking distance.
Oh how beautiful is this place. So rustic , just as we thought it would be. It would have been nice to have had water in the room. But this is a minor point. Our room was so comfortable. We used the restaurant for an evening meal, the food did not dissapoint. Our waitress was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I definitely reccomend The Brown Horse Inn.
