We liked everything about Quintal de Areias— the staff and owners are very welcoming and kind, the rooms are clean, the food is great, and it’s very close to the dunes of Lencois. I don’t think we could have chosen a better place to stay. The owner helped us book everything from the car ride from São Luis to the town, the tours of the dunes, etc. This made everything so much easier since we (unfortunately) don’t speak Portuguese and it would have been difficult to book those logistical things on our own.

Chalé Murici Lençóis is a recently renovated guest house in Santo Amaro, where guests can makes the most of its outdoor swimming pool, garden and tennis court. The staff is extremely helpful - all the tours we did were arranged through the pousada. They also arranged a car with a guide/driver for our nocturnal trip - star gazing in Lençóis is an amazing experience when the sky is clear. The grounds are great to relax after spending the days on the dunes. Food options are limited but the food is great - traditional Brazilian food /hey, we're in the middle of nowhere!/. There is a friendly dog who lives on the grounds and we loved giving it some pets :)

Toca do Vaidoso is located in Barreirinhas, 600 metres from City Hall, and offers free WiFi and free parking. Rooms at Toca do Vaidoso feature a patio, cable TV, a minibar and air conditioning. Clovis and the family are the definition of 'best hosts'. I felt like a home away from home.

Set in São Luís, 3.6 km from Jansen Lagoon, Quarto no Dubai Residence offers accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace.

Situated in São Luís, near Saint Pantaleon Church, Stone Fountain and Art and History Museum of Maranhao, Will's House features free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a bar. Will and his family were very welcoming and helpful. Great location close to the historic city centre and Mateus supermarket.

All the staff was very helpful, super nice and made our stay special! You feel like home, everything is super clean the location is the best, very close to the restaurants so you don’t need a car. Edson helped us with all the booking tours and that for sure made us have the best experience.
