WOW!! If you are even thinking about booking Casa do Penedo, just do it. The scenery is amazing, the house is huge with all the comforts of home and a unique collection of art. About 30 minutes drive to the village of Geres. The kayaks were fun on the river but boy the current was tough, and we loved spending lounge time in the pool after a day of sightseeing nearby villages or hiking. We grilled every night and dined al fresco at the large table (even beautiful table clothes provided) and enjoyed our morning coffee on the veranda with the most beautiful mountain and river views. We hardly saw anyone during our stay and it was like we had the entire mountain to ourselves. Can't wait to go back!

The breakfast was also great, in a large area overlooking the river, and a great sitting place to have the morning coffee. The staff was also super friendly and kind, making us feel welcome there. Overall a great place to book some quiet days in Gerês.
