The room is clean, newly renovated. The l’ octane body wash, shampoo, lotion etc were excellent choice. And the hair conditioner was a bonus and a treat. The pub food, especially the fish with salad is a treat too and recommended.

The location is perfect; close to the city, walking distance to fabulous beaches, and a short stroll to waterfront dining and bars. The room itself was exactly as described and I was pleasantly surprised that there was very little road noise (I had a room with a balcony). The bed was super comfy and everything was well presented and very clean.

Rooms look out onto a private verandah, perfect for catching a glimpse of the sunrise over the nearby reserve. It’s easy to walk from the light rail stop to the Grand. There are several eateries nearby as well. Hunter St Mall is a mess with construction, but not a sound can be heard at the hotel. A menu item that may not remain on the list, sadly, is the lightly pickled peach with farro & feta over a bed of baby arugula. And this is a safe & welcoming place for a single female traveler.
