The Chateau is located a few miles out of Orleans, France. It is a beautiful, country setting. The grounds are immaculate, with a formal garden, but also a casual garden. The Chateau is lovely and was being used for a wedding the morning that we left. The hosts (a husband and wife team) were wonderful, serving us wine in the formal garden behind the chateau. Although the wife spoke only a little English, she was welcoming and helpful. The husband spoke more English and did his absolute best for us in every little detail. He was interesting to talk with about his restoration of the chateau (7 years) and his gardens. The rooms are not in the Chateau but in adjacent buildings that have been updated inside in a modern fashion. We rented two rooms, one with capacity for 2 people and one with capacity for 4 people (separate bedroom and a sitting area with a sofa bed. The beds were comfortable. We paid extra for breakfast in the morning (about 12 euros each). It is probably best described as a very good continental breakfast (breads, buns, poached eggs, fruit, cheese, juices, tea, coffee, cereal.) There were 5 of us (two adults and 3 teenagers--2 girls, 1 boy). We ordered pizza from a nearby pizzeria for our teens but also ate at a great restaurant in nearby Orleans. This area of France appears not to have many American visitors. The French people here were all very nice but seemed surprised we were from the United States. Two of us knew some French and it was enough to get by.
