We loved everything about the place. Just nearly disturbed by the owner of Olienhout self catering who told our kids not to use the trampoline because it is a Private place. I called the lady to understand what was the problem because if it was a private place they wouldn't have taken out bookings, but all was sorted during the conversation.

Try Fat olive restaurant, culinary table restaurant, Maggie's farm restaurants, hartebeespoort, cradle of the humankind, etc...lots of places to visit and things to do.

The lodge priority is with having day visitors and not for the guests. Totally over crowded with visitors which means the guests cant use the facilities. The bath tap is the best feature. Having a proper shade outside would be great seeing that we cannot really sit outside during the day because of direct sunlight. The bathroom floor outside the shower needs to be cleaned properly they are sticky and not clean at all

Reception took over 20min to check us in after botching up the booking. Service at the bar took 15 min after calling the barman twice. Supper on the first evening took 90minutes from ordering. The 2nd night we were woken at 1am by drunk guest who made a disturbing noise until 2am. One Morning we were charged R190 for breakfast for 3x people & the 2nd morning R450 for 3x people. Prior to check out I asked that they have my invoice ready. On check out the lady said she is jusy with something else and she will email it to me. I have not received it yet & it will probably take 10x phone calls if they answer. Overall the stay was disappointing . The competence & friendliness of the staff is not up to standard. It is in an excellent location with proper roads, yet in the middle of a serene and tranquil forest. I loved the room, it was cosy and comfortable. Beautiful as well. I enjoyed exploring. The spa, the restaurant had amazing food. The game drive was so fun and informative. The staff, all staff was just so helpful and friendly.
