This is a popular resort with Portuguese families who make up the huge majority of visitors here - not many Brits and not much English spoken. Big clean beaches - sea very cold even in July, Huge activity on the beach - these people play Basketball and Beach Volleyball all day and all night! Vast range of restaurants and other bars etc, and all very reasonably priced - did not feel we were paying the same prices we were paying in Porto itself.

Great beaches
Unattractive modern town with nice historic plaza but too many nondescript high rise blocks for my taste.
Inexpensive good value restaurants offering great traditional portuguese dishes

Povoa is a great city.
Povoa is a great city. The beach is wonderful, the people are great, and there is plenty to do within the immediate area (Povoa and Vila do Conde). Povoa is also very close to Porto, Braga, Viana do Castelo, and a host of other cool places. The beach is clean and nice.

If you would like to make a fantastic holiday in a local area near Porto. I would suggest this place. This area just 20 minutes from the Airport and the beach is beautiful. I felt the local shops and restaurants aren't expensive at all.

Povoa De Varzim is a bustling little seaside town with everything you could want as a visitor. Mostly popular with Portuguese so English visitors that like home from home (menus in english etc) might wish to think carefully but otherwise I would definitely return. Safe, clean and easily accessible by car or rail.

Hiking the El Camino. Perfect location. There is a very new laundry two blocks from the Hotel. There is a supermercado 100 feet from the door for supplies. The Olimpico restaurant three doors down was wonderful. The location is very central. Oscar the owner met us with a glass of port wine 🍷 and is an exceptional host. The rooms were spotless thanks to Maria the housekeeper. There is a roof deck which we used to relax. I would return here anytime. Perfect El Camino stop!!!
I usted to stay few days in Póvoa de Varzim every year. Never stayed in a place that I could feel like home till now. Staff is 5 stars, all tidy and clean. All you need to cook and have a nice meal, new bathroom and shower, spacious room and comfortable mattress. And the cherry on top, a communal area that made me feel like I was in the Caribbean. Highly recommended.
The room was very well appointed and great comfy beds. The fact that there was a coffee maker and a fridge really stood out for us. This was a big plus.
The balcony looking over into the beautiful gardens was an added bonus.
There was ample safe parking both above and under ground.
This hotel is a real gem.
We really enjoyed our stay at Costa Verde. Very close to the beach. The hotel is very clean and the room was nice! Friendly and helpful staff. Recommend to use the hotels garage, it can be a bit hard to find a parking spot. Just ask in the reception.
Spotlessly clean rooms and hotel. Friendly staff. Rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. Beds were comfy. Breakfast is in a lovely place upstairs and was really good! Such a great experience! Would definitely stay here again!
Staff were so lovely and helpful. Big spacious room, clean, great shower and there is billiard table on the ground floor that we appreciated as weather was abit wet to do outdoor stuff. Overall, recommended this hotel.
Modern clean hostel in a quiet street of Póvoa de Varzim. Perfect location right on Camino de Santiago. Good food and beer close to the hostel. Friendly helpful staff. Highly recommend to all pilgrims!
Great location, super friendly and helpful staff ….. and still the only hotel that I have ever stayed in where you are given a TV remote control at the check in desk 😀
On the beach! Nice set up in rooms... not your typical bunk beds. Had a privacy curtain per section of 2 beds, so you could actually stand and change with privacy.
The apartment was very big and the bed comfortable. It has a nice kitchen and large bathroom. Also in a good location, only a few blocks from the beach and stores.
