Modern, nice and warm, all the facilities and lovely breakfast
It’s a perfect base for exploring the golden circle and the south coast. There is only 7 km to Hveragerdi and Selfoss, cities with a wide range of shops and restaurants.

The hot tubs were a great experience at the end of a long drive across the Icelandic south coast. There was a slight smell of sulphur to the tap water, so keep that in mind if you are sensitive to such things. A great place to stay during the off-season; a complimentary room upgrade was a very welcoming touch.

Suited us as it was on our route. Building work on lift going on. There was another lift that we used so no issues.

The property is warm and friendly, with a family atmosphere. We arrived late and left early, so we didn't get to experience all the estate had to offer. However, it looked like there was much to explore.

We didn't actually get chance to see much of Selfoss itself as we were using the apartment as a Base for other excursions, great for south coast & golden circle as long as you're comfortable driving a hire car.
We are looking forward to visiting again in the future & seeing even more!

The Town has grown since I visited 7 years ago.
The Town has grown since I visited 7 years ago. The town pool is a great spot to go and relax. There is a fabulous food court across the street from the Hotel Selfoss -- great spot for drinks and dinner. You can still get a good hot dog in the parking lot of the Hotel Selfoss. The town is well located to visit waterfalls, geysers, and thermal pools. I would return.

A friendly town - we stayed in the camper site which was great and then a return visit to stay in a hotel and we ate in the food hall which was nice with options and variety. We also did the Skyr tour in the basement of the food hall. I would add that a wider and more of the “taste” section would be nice.
It’s a central spot to come back to or travel from and back if that suits your travel plans.

Selfoss has a sweet, mostly walkable, growing center that includes an easy, level river-walk. We found enough variety in the food hall to keep us well-fed and happy with the choices over several days. (It was recommended to us by a rental car agent at KEF. She was rightly enthusiastic about the tacos - and just about everything was solid!) Selfoss is also a great location near the Southern Coast for easy, varied day-trips - everything from amazing waterfalls to black-sand beaches, from otherworldly volcanic deposits to hot-springs, craters, and more. With Selfoss as our lodging spot, we could have happily explored for several more days.

Nice quiet town with more than just the waterfall.
Nice quiet town with more than just the waterfall. Plenty of places to eat and shop. Þingvellir national park is nearby with great views, hiking and (of course) several waterfalls. The fall colors were out during our visit the last week of September and only last a few days.
The house is amazing and much better than the description. Its warm and has a lovely lounge dinner. It has a dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, hair dryer and toiletries in the bathrooms. Loads of space for the 6 of us. The kitchen is well fitted out which is great as we cooked every night as you are not close to any restaurants. We had a problem with the hot tub and our host came over and sorted it out so we used it every night, amazing!!! The location is stunning and we saw the northern lights.
after days amid nothing entering a town is a little shock of its own
and automatic self checking it's a facility as long as it works otherwise it's another little problem ones have to solve before get in and relax
our room, clean and spacious was facing the main road of sellfoss (as all the odd) and so noisy till late in the evening
yet the coffee machine is welcomed
parking is free just at the entrance and plenty of restaurants in the neightborhood
Self check-in was convenient as we arrived late evening, the host was very responsive and helpful in all communications. The apartment was spacious for our family of four, spotlessly clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Great location - ideal for exploring the Golden Circle, a day trip to Vik and the hike to the 'hot river' from Hveragerði, also within walking distance (or 2 min drive) to restaurants and supermarkets. It was perfect!
A pleasant hotel in a good location to stay for a night during our touring trip. Modern, clean and comfortable room.
Friendly, helpful staff and a decent selection of food for breakfast. We enjoyed it.
Free parking in the car park(which was full when we arrived), and on the road at the front.
An easy walk to see the river and the interestingly renovated town centre.
We ate at nearby Tryggvaskali Restaurant on the evening. It was superb!
Comfortable cabin and warm the whole night. To check in, we met with the host who welcomed us with Nero and Pluto the very friendly doggies :) Didn’t get to use the hot tub, the shower or kitchen, as we only stayed one night. Not far from Selfoss with lots of restaurants, although there is a fridge, kettle and crockery in the cabin if you don’t fancy the kitchen! Would recommend this peaceful place.
The Owners went out of their way to help you with any concerns or questions. Staff fantastic. The Chef prepared amazing veggie dinners for us. The two Icelandic sheepdogs that are on the property add to the charm. The hotel is an amazing design, you feel at home. Flip flops are provided for the spa but I would bring a comfy pair of slippers to lounge around the hotel. Looking forward to going back!
This hotel is family run with so much care, the facilities are perfect, the room was lovely and the food delicious. The hot spa pools are sensational, really made it a stay to remember. The set menu dinner was absolutely delicious and made from local produce. The hotel owners pay so much attention detail with sustainability high on their list of importances. I highly recommend.
Functional, clean hotel if a bit dated. Ideally located for us as we were roadtripping and were on our way back to Reykjavik. Our room was quiet and warm, overlooking the church and the lake. I highly recommend the The Old Dairy Food Hall in the town centre for dinner (its just round the corner)!
Clean; a lot of extras like ice cube trays, scissors, etc.; hot tub; beautiful & convenient location; modern; big area to hang out together and space to have alone time too. After being in a car together for a week, it was great to play games together and then each retreat to our own rooms.
Very clean and spacious rooms and common areas. We were the only guests for the night so we were given larger rooms. The kitchen looked to be well stocked with basic pot/pans/utensils should you want to use it. It is about 20 minutes from the closest town so plan your dinners accordingly.
Very nice location, close to Reykjavik and Vik, very convenient to visit the golden circle from.
The rooms were decent, the curtains could use some love/attention.
You'll have to fix your own breakfast but that didn't bother.
The hot tub is a nice bonus.
The apartment had a private entrance, was spacious, well located for shops and restaurants, well kitted out and clean. We enjoyed living in a smart residential road, in what was a family home. Our hosts always answered our queries. Highly recommended.
The welcoming and friendly staff, nice and hygienically clean, location in Selfoss, nearby shops, restaurants and market. Equipped with all the necessities as a studio cottage. The money reflects the quality you pay. Ample parking.
Awesome modern cabin, everything you need in the little room, very cozy and spacious for 2 travelers! I love using the hot tub in the snow too! The staff is very friendly and eager to help.
Newer hotel and felt very clean. Easy walk to a restaurant hall with great food options - small vendors serving great food in a fun food court atmosphere. Lots of locals.
Just the right size, spacious and practical. And in a great location for golden circle trips. Plus selfoss has loads of restaurants and bars and supermarkets
