Stunning place to see the Northern Lights (which we did!)
Breakfast was delicious and lots of options for veggie, meat-eaters etc.
Shame the reception/bar closes at 10pm (even on the weekend) would have been amazing to view the lights from the windows in the main lodge itself.
The rooms were fresh, clean and comfortable.

This place is like a dream! A beautiful boutique hotel with working farm. The dinner and breakfast were wonderful and the staff was even better! Did I mention we road their beautiful Icelandic horses on a mountain/flatland ride. Could have stayed forever!

Wonderful Hidden Gem of a Hotel and Breakfast was OUTSTANDING
Rooms are quiet and comfortable and well maintained and upgraded.
Shower was a little tight and needs some update to make a little safer for people stepping in and out. A grab bar or better flooring would help.
But overall WELL DONE

Hvolsvöllur is a small town (village?), but you can find restaurants, petrol station, supermarket here, therefore ideal base of excursions -for instance to the Golden Circle (North West) or Vik region (South West).
Nevertheless there is a very special facility, the Lava Centre which much be visited definitely.

Hvolsvöllur has plenty of good accommodation and a good grocery store. Very nice swimming pool as well. So its a good place for a base to travel from on day trips. Eldstó restaurant is a very friendly small place with great burgers and soups. Local attractions available.

The owners were very friendly.
The owners were very friendly. They help us even at midnight. The apartment was big, clean, enough for 6 people. The place was near by the Golden circle, Black beach and other attractions. Definitely recomend it.

The proximity to the ferry for the Westman Islands was the reason we chose this property - it was only 10mins drive from the ferry terminal. Additionally, the property is 1km from Seljalandfoss, meaning you can visit away from the busiest times of day. The cabins were literally on the ring road, making it easy to find but no need to worry about noise. A very good place to stay the night and enjoy all the amazing attractions between Seljanlandfoss and Vik.

The Lava Center is a phenomenal place to stop.
The Lava Center is a phenomenal place to stop. The exhibits are interactive and so well done, all ages will appreciate learning more about Iceland's volcanos.
We heard that there were tours for hiking out of this area, but the weather was way too extreme for us to check that out.
We loved everything about our stay at Midgard. If we come back this way I will book at least a two night stay in the same family room. The place is exceptionally well kept, the staff is helpful and friendly, the breakfast is better than most and the restaurant dishes we tried were absolutely delicious. I will book a two night stay so I can enjoy the sauna, the hot tub and sample other dishes from the menu :). The location is perfect for exploring the Golden Circle and a few other attractions in the south of Iceland.
Had a wonderful two nights here. The location was stunning - our window looked out across the mountains and we were able to very clearly see the northern lights one night! Staff was very friendly and there was a great selection for breakfast. We had a double room which was spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. Overall highly recommend! (There is a 2km gravel path off the main road to get to the hotel, we managed ok in a 2WD in mid/late April, but something to consider for other times of the year).
We loved everything about this place! It looks exactly like the pictures (maybe even better), and it is so magical!
The staff were so incredibly nice and attentive.
The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable.
It’s right off the main road so I was easy to get everywhere we needed to be.
The food was delicious, and the included breakfast has a ton of options!
I don’t usually care too much about hotels, but the place was amazing and I can’t wait to come back!
The best breakfast in Iceland! Very diffrent from the other hotels on the road aroud the island (just bread, boiled eggs and the same all). Nice cooking, really nice and fresh scrambled eggs. The place was really nice in the front desk area, a beautiful volcano right in front, the hot tub was nice to have some rest and hit the road aggain the next day. Great place to stay and continue exploring Iceland.
A very comfortable house for family or travelling couples - you have the sense that you are are away from the crowds and the views out of every window are fantastic. Very well equipped for cooking which we appreciated. The real treat was seeing a spectacular Northern Lights display one of the nights we were there!
Highly recommend for a slice of Iceland you won't forget.
This is a great stay in the middle of a ranch with really nice Icelandic horses.
The rooms are large and there is a nice lounge area you can use.
The breakfast was really good and the girl handling breakfast shared with us many horse stories - she was clearly really passionate about the Icelandic horses.
We stayed here for two nights whilst exploring the South/South West and it was fantastic. Our room was a really good size and nicely decorated (like the rest of the hotel). We loved the spa and used it both nights. Meals were excellent. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we came back to Iceland.
Our family of 5 did not want to leave! So very comfortable. The hot tub was amazing. All amenities and supplies were fabulous. Super cute loft and bunk for kids. Relaxing…off the beaten path. Probably one of the most amazing views in Iceland from the living room/kitchen window.
Rental is a full house lost in the Icelandic countryside, surrounded by horses. Beautiful view of Vestmannaeyjar from the house. Very quiet and practical with three bedrooms, a bathroom and a big living room and kitchen. I recommend it :)
The view from the hotel was amazing. There is a beautiful mountain behind it.
The towel and sheets were very cool.
The room was little bit small but it was enough for us.
There are two dogs, they were so kind and smart.
We loved the location of the hotel, it felt very private and serene. The veranda and bar area were very cozy and inviting. We loved the newly renovated rooms, we get so at home and it was hard to leave
Super friendly staff, serves as a meeting point for tours to Landmannalaugar and Thórsmörk, great restaurant, relaxing hot tub and sauna, washing machine and tumble dryer available, great atmosphere
Close to main attractions in the South Iceland, quite and cozy palce, supermarket not far away from the property, nice restaurants was nearby (Valkhalla)
Good location near a couple of restaurants. Free hotel parking and great breakfast. Our room was a family room which was really big and had a large sofa.
