Driving in the grounds were really well kept - the property did not look like anything we expected. The interior is gorgeous. Quiet sitting, reading, spots. Luxurious feel to the spaces using lighting, fantastic artwork and beautiful books. The views out front were wonderful. Living Area was so comfortable and inviting. Kitchenette had everything needed. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was a delightful getaway in itself.

Location. Very quiet and close to a small village with a restaurant. When we arrived we saw some small whales close to the harbour.. amazing! The cabin had everything we needed and was already cozy and warm when we arrived. The hottub is a nice bonus after a long day of hiking and driving. Nice oasis close to Akureyri!

The house was the best house we stayed in in iceland, it was cozy and perfect for the group of people we were, the landscape around the property was incredible and we saw an amazing sunrise. The hoster was nice to us the moment we requested her help (when we couldnt find the property she came for us to help as much as she could). The common area and its comfyness is one of the best memories i have from the trip.

This was one of the nicest stays on our tour around Iceland, love to go again and recommend it dearly.
Located in North Iceland’s main town, Akureyri, this budget summer hotel is a short walk from the city centre and the Eyjafjördur Fjord shore. Free parking is offered on site.
The name Viking Country Club is misleading. It is a house with 12rooms, some very small. Not a quaint inn nor hotel nor charming. It was a full house and there was only 2 bathrooms, one on each floor. I question if that even meets a health code. Our friends room was so small that they couldn’t open their 2suitcases and they had a lot of flies in their room. The husband eventually slept in the car. We were asked to remove our shoes and place them by the door and then some of us had trouble obtaining the right shoes. One woman could not find hers. We were to stay 2 nights but left the following morning, writing the host a note since he was not there. It advertised continental breakfast but they provided milk and coffee if you wanted to make your own. Some people wrote good reviews but this was the worst place any of us (4 people) stayed in.

Hjalteyri is a very small town with a cute park and a nice looking little restaurant that we weren't able to use as we had already purchased food to cook ourselves. No other services. This is a great option for those seeking solitude but wishing to be close to the services of Akureyri.

Beautiful facility and furnishings.
Beautiful facility and furnishings. They just need to work on their climate control throughout the building. It was uncomfortably warm, even with all of the windows open to let in the cool 11 deg (C) air.
