Djupavik is in a wonderfully remote area on the Strandir coast. It's reached by a well-maintained gravel road that follows the shoreline. The village itself is tiny, with the hotel as its only business. The hotel buildings are historic structures that were originally part of the fish processing plant from the 1930s, which is still standing. The hotel manager/chef gives an outstanding tour of the fish factory, very highly recommended. There's an art gallery with rotating exhibits in the factory. An excellent Icelandic breakfast is included. Also available are very good homemade soup and bread at lunchtime, and really delicious lamb, fish and vegetarian meals at dinner. The dining room is cozy and filled with interesting artifacts. The staff members are friendly and accommodating. Exploring the shoreline is interesting, especially at low tide. Hiking in the area is excellent, and the hills and waterfall above the town are interesting to explore.
Set in Hólmavík, Hótel Laugarhóll with natural hot spring has a garden, shared lounge, restaurant, and free WiFi. Guests can enjoy mountain views. At the hotel, each room comes with a desk.

The hotel occupies a building which previously was a local school. The rooms were newly renowated and clean. There is a natural hot spring outside but it's small. The swimming pool is bigger and nicely warm. Staff were friendly and very engaged. Food was very tasty (we had a dinner and a breakfast).
This family-run guest house in in Nordurfjördur village offers basic rooms in a converted barn, as well as modern self-service cottages. Krossnes Geothermal Pool is 1 km away.

Everything about the cabin was beautiful. Very cozy and a great getaway from the city. The hot tub is good, the inside of the cabin is neat and excellent for a relaxed stay in the Westfjords.

Exceptional Experience at Hotel Djupavik: A Delightful Stay, Warm Welcome, and Awe-Inspiring Fish Oil Factory Tour!!!
I had the privilege of staying at Hotel Djupavik, and it truly ranks among the most exceptional places I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. The breakfast was delightful, the warm welcome from the staff was even better, and the tour of the nearby fish oil factory was simply awe-inspiring. The atmosphere here makes you feel like a cherished friend rather than a mere guest. Absolutely fantastic!

Hotel Djupavik is about 30 miles off Road 61 (paved) via Road 643 (unpaved) in the Westfjords. We had a four wheel drive (recommended) and found the relatively short trip to be an adventure. The road is potholed, twisty, high above the sea with no guardrails. At the highest point there is a spectacular waterfall and a breathtaking view of the fjord below. The hotel is quirky in a Wes Anderson, whimsical way. Rustic, cozy rooms, another stunning waterfall a short distance away. The owners/hosts are accommodating and friendly. The restaurant is very good. An overall comfortable, memorable, amazing experience.

Djupavik is an old fishing town in Strandir region of the Icelandic Westfjords. Beautiful waterfall above the "town", which is only about 10 houses. Old abandoned fishing factory is the main building, which now is often used for art shows. Beautiful area for hiking, cycling, bird watching, enjoying nature in peace and quiet.

Calm, peaceful, and interesting location on a fjord in Iceland. The art exhibit in the old herring factory was interesting to view. Great place to relax and unwind. The road to Djupavik is packed down but not paved so take your time on the drive.
