Breakfast was like something from "The Thousand and One Nights" (except, of course, that it was in the morning). Really excellent with a great choice. the only slight drawback was the language, all dishes were described only in Hungarian so veggies like me had to be very careful.
Another big plus was the free entry into the big local swimming complex, about a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
Hotel Szieszta is located in the midst of a park, a 15-minute drive from the centre of Sopron in a green hilly area. Free WiFi is available in the public areas.

Belle Epoque palace in the middle of the city, at the price of a hostel in Germany.
Hotel Civitas is located in Sopron’s city centre, a 10-minute walk away from the train and bus stations and close to the city's medieval monuments and palaces.

The hotel is well located inside the pedestrian area, yet close to the street parking which is free on the weekends and public holidays. Breakfast was also great and the coffee machine inside the room was nice touch.

Most museums were closed and so we had very few options to do. Most shops were also closed. We still enjoyed checking out the historical architecture... the old town was really sweet, lots to admire. Roman remains, Renaissance buildings, Fire Tower, good coffee and good food :)

Sopron is a pleasant relaxed city.
Sopron is a pleasant relaxed city. We appreciated the relative quietness of the place and that we could wander around without bumping into crowds. The old town is charming, and the 'Healing Pit' (Gyógy Gödör) is a great pub/restaurant. The food and drinks are delicious and the service is very good.

I use this hotel every time I am in Sopron on business, average two times a year unless it is fully booked up. It is under new management ( I have used it for 15 years ). The one criticism of the hotel is that checkout is at 10AM whereas most hotels of this standard checkout at 12, and that was the case before the new management took over. Beware!

Nice town close to Austrian border.
Nice town close to Austrian border. The center is very nice, and there are evident signs of a great past (starting from Romans). There is not a lot to see, besides the walk around the walls and some visits to the Tower and the historical landmarks in the Fo Ter. One full day, for the center, is enough in my view.

I can recommend Sopron as the place for various activities.
I can recommend Sopron as the place for various activities.
Historical monuments - the town has nice historical centre with many old houses (in course of renovation), churches and town walls.
Wine and Gastronomy - Go to the Tourist Information Office and ask for the guide: there are very good tips for restaurants with traditional Hungarian cuisine. For wine there are 2 very nice winebars or you can taste the wine in wine cellars.
Nature - the starting point to visit Lake Fertö National Park
SPA - I would recommend the thermal spa in Hegykö (15 minutes by car from Sopron)
The hotel is located in an old house which has been very tastefully renovated. Our room was spick and span, very quiet, very comfortable. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the city center and is situated in an interesting neighbourhood. Breakfast was good with a large choice of items. In a nutshell, a perfect place to stay in Sopron. We would have liked to stay longer !
Fantastic location in the historic city center, incredibly friendly staff, I totally felt like being part of the family. Stylish and cozy rooms matching the beautiful old town of Sopron. I can only recommend this hotel for a nice stay in Sopron and we will definitely return!
Aw, and that espresso and breakfast every morning... amazing! A big THANK YOU! :-D
The host makes it very easy to collect the keys prior to arrival, whereas the flat is centrally located and very spacious with a creative interior design. The Deak restaurant can be found in the same building, yet there’s no noise in the apartment thanks to the thick walls.
Highly recommend for a pleasant stay in Sopron.
Modern hotel in nice , surrounded by forest. Food was very delicious, and it was regularly topped up so you still had plenty of choice even at the end of serving hours. Comfortable beds. Nice and clean spa area, also great for toddlers.
I really liked that it was kids friendly and had many activities to entertain them.
Great place to stay in Sopron. Very kind host, can give straight and accurate hints where to go, eat, what to see. Room was spacious and very clean. Breakfast delicious (homemade fig jam😇). check in easy and fast. pleanty places for car, quite location. Alles in Ordnung 😀
A beautiful place in the heart of Sopron. This is freshly renovated , beautiful place ~ modern & rustic at the same time.
The owner of this place is very friendly and their breakfast was wonderful. Highly recommend !
We can't wait to stay there again soon.
The suite was spacious and designed in a restrained style befitting the past of the building that was used as a monastery. The corridors and the dining room are very beautiful. The location is very beautiful and it is a special experience to be there.
It's basically next to the Sopron's old town in the very heart of the city. The building itself and the interior of the main hall look very stylish. The view on the city's tiled roofs from the windows of our room on the 4th floor was nice.
We are a family of 4 and stayed just for 1 night. The hotel is old but classic, nice to see the antiques in the lobby. Rooftop is very good to see the city from above. Perfect location with many touristic sites in walking distance.
A very nice apartment in walking distance to some beautiful part of the outskirts of Sopron (monastery, lookouts, hiking trails, heroes' cemetery), free parking on the street, very kind and helpful host!
The location is really lovely. The bus stop is right infront of the hotel.
The staff is very friendly. There was lactose free option available for all dairy products for breakfast, which was lovely.
The apartment is superb, the owner has a great sense for styles, very practically furnished, clean and located close to the center, We will definitely go back when next time in Sopron! :)
Clean and modern room with two bedrooms and tv in each room, coffee machine with complimentary coffe capsules, amazing breakfast and great staff. Will return for sure when in Sopron!
