This is a hidden gem in heart of Flateyri. We spent there a romantic New Years Eve and we were more than amazed by this beautful experience. It is a family run bookstore/accommodation business for decades with nicely preserved antique interior. Host gave us a quick tour in the building. Kitchen was full of kitchenware, spices, sweets and food for breakfast. Lots of books, boardgames, guitar to play and so on. This is one of 2 best places in Vestfirdir for a romantic stay.

It was warm and had a kitchen that was perfectly adequate to cook a meal. The bathroom was modern with a generously sized shower. There were two bathrobes as well as towels. It was quiet and with parking right outside. The house is up the hill from the harbour and it was a bit cold (snow everywhere) to walk to the hot pools on the shore so we took the car, but I would estimate a 10 min walk in summer.

Holiday Guesthouse is situated in Stykkishólmur and offers a terrace. There is a picnic area and guests can make use of free WiFi and free private parking. We loved our stay at Monika's place! Great location (right next to a Bonus), beds and linens were incredibly comfortable, and the bedrooms, bathrooms, and common spaces were always very clean. Monika is an exceptionally kind and thoughtful host; she made our stay that much better. There were jars of granola, cereal, and spreads to have in the morning which would accompany the bread we bought from the Bonus next door and the milk in the fridge. There were also plenty of coffee pods and tea bags to enjoy. The common space was very comfortable to work from and there was strong wifi in the house. Bedrooms were a comfortable size and the comforter's warmth is unmatched. There is parking outside and the house is walking distance from stores, restaurants, and the lighthouse. Gas stations are also within a 2-3 minute drive. Overall, we had a great stay and we can't wait to come back! The Guesthouse has everything you will need for a comfortable stay and good night's sleep.
