More Than Just a London Suburb
Ilford benefits from a train station on the fast line between Liverpool Street and Shenfield. Since Stratford, site of the Olympic Park, is only a few stations away, Ilford rose in international popularity during the build-up to the 2012 Games. However, location isn't all it has going for it.
The Borough of Redbridge is run from its Grade II-listed Victorian town hall, on a pedestrian precinct which includes the Ilford Exchange shopping centre. To the west is another Grade II-listed building: the 12th-century Hospital Chapel of St Mary and St Thomas of Canterbury.
The UK’s only complete mammoth skull was found underneath the high street and is now displayed in London’s Natural History Museum. Redbridge Museum houses more archaeological finds, and the 17th-century Valentines Mansion features a Victorian kitchen and beautiful gardens.
Actually outside of the capital when built, the mansion is now firmly within Greater London and is surrounded by Valentines Park with its boating lake and cricket pitch where Essex County once played.
The diverse cuisine of Ilford’s restaurants reflects its multicultural population, and there are also several good bars and a club near Gants Hill Tube station that is popular with reality TV stars. Nearby Ilford accommodation on Booking.com includes hotels with parking and cheap guest houses.

As a black person I felt comfortable among the Asian population and I saw other persons of color as well. The town is lively and friendly. The Turkish food was a blast. The shopping center has almost everything. For black women, there's a hair shop in the main shopping area. The prices are reasonable for London

You get, what you pay for. it is definitely not a world class hotel but good for the money you pay for it. very near to the Ilford station. 25 and 86 number buses run 24 hours. shopping mall is just 2mins walking distance. High street is also just around the corner. I had a single room, which was small hut bed was comfortable. changed the towels daily. It was very good for the money I’ve paid for. complementary breakfast is also included in the room. I never woke up to have breakfast so can’t say about the quality of it.
Clean white covers on the bed, fantastic breakfast with crepes, cossants, juices, fruits, vegetables, coffee, tea, ham, sausage, eggs, cooked mushrooms and more, So Wonderfull!!
Anna at the front desk was exceptional, very informative, friendly and nice!! The ladies servicing the breakfast area are wonderful!
They work very hard!.
Close to underground, and bus transport into London and more. 2-3 trains to London, depending where you go!
Close to a wetherspoons pub for dinner.
Lovely find, ideal for a stay before flying from London City with friends.
The bar downstairs gives you a one stop shop to eat, drink, chat and stay all together.
The staff are super friendly and the food was great.
Parking across the road and a five minute walk from the tube stop in the Elizabeth line.
Rooms were very comfortable with all you would need from hot drinks to a hair dryer.
There was also live music downstairs on the weekend and breakfast served :)
Breakfast - Was good for the price paid
Room are of goodsize
Cleanliness can be improved. Fresh Carpets will change complete look of the hotel.
Though there are no smoking boards in parking area, some intruders are smoking
In the Recpetion, Mr. Raja helped us lot, really appreciate his service. Please keep it up.
Good location that’s convenient for Gants Hill and Ilford.
Management reacted to my concerns of cleanliness and arranged another hotel locally for my last night. In this case you get what you pay for and for those that want a clean room it probably work paying a little more. Lesson learned
I was conned into booking this hotel. My hotel was changed without my consent at 4:00 pm on the day of my checkin. I received no notice beforehand. My hotel was moved from Ilford to Beacon Tree without any notice whatever. Completely ruined my Easter. I did not check in at Beacon Tree
1) The room on the ground floor that I stayed was quiet.
2) The hotel is very close to the tube which is a big plus.
3) The room, though basic, was above average given the rather low London standards.
4) Receptionists were friendly and smiling.
The hotel was in a nice neighbourhood and the rooms were cosy, staff were exceptional and quite immediately obliged my request for the rooms in upper floors. Overall a good stay and would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Ilford, London.
Easy to find, close to bus stops, close to local shops and takeaways. Easy mid location if you need both Ilford and Barking. TV and Wifi reliable. Hot showers. Stayed longer than anticipated but was easy to extend and stay in the same room.
Excellent location, great choice of restaurants available in the area. The room was spacious, very clean, excellent facilities, clean bathroom with shower. Very courteous and smilling staff . Really satisfied with my stay .
No frills here but amazing value considering the London postcode. Literally 2 mins from the town centre..lovely.
If it's a budget room you want this is fine. Cheap as chips and a buffet breakfast, what's not to like.
Breakfast Good..Location Good...I Have Family in Ilford Area.. I Like to Visit them on St Patrick's Weekend.. and Drown the Shamrock... I Know My Way around Now....My Oyster Card Me to Places of My Choice..Tony..
Really good value for money. We got a cheap room with 3 single beds in. That is very hard to find in London. Very close to the tube station and a good amount of shops and cafés/restaurants about. Free WiFi.
