The Deluxe Boutique Lodge was perfect in so many ways. We booked this location to be close to Poas National Park and La Paz Waterfall Garden. It was 20 minutes to one and 10 to the other.
Walter met us at the property even though due to weather and construction we were about an hour late. He also became our lifesaver that day. Again, due to weather, a family member was delayed arriving into San Jose. Walter volunteered to drive down to San Jose and pick her up.
The property is located on the main road into the small village of Vara Blanca, walking distance to restaurants and shops.
The Lodge is super clean and very nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable, the WIFI very good and the huge TV was a welcome diversion during the stormy weather.
We do not hesitate to recommend this property

We stayed in one of the dome tents and it was really unique and cool. The views over San Jose were gorgeous and the proximity to Poas Volcano made the visit the next morning really easy. The guy who checked us in was really helpful and accomodating, allowing us to shorten our stay by one night without an issue and even going so far as to call and order us pizzas from a local place since we arrived so late and the nearby restaurants were already closed.

Good roads but narrow as usual thru towns. Different landscape with the farms and greenhouses and coffee plantations in rolling hills. Waterfalls.
Loved the drifting clouds coming up the valleys in the evening. Cool evenings and warm days.

We went to La Paz Waterfall gardens and it was an amazing place. You could easily spend an entire day there. Also the area is known for strawberries. We bought some from a roadside stand and they were delicious.

This was a great stopping place for us and is close to La Paz, Poas Volcano, and Doka Coffee Plantation. We stayed here after visiting La Paz Waterfall Gardens (which is worth the cost to visit), and then just had a short drive to Poas the following morning. We only stayed one night, and didn't get to visit the town, but its location is perfect for a stopover while visiting the nearby sites.
Very pleasant highland area stay base with short distances with private car to Poas volcano and La Paz waterfall area. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, some king of personal touch brought to mind old-style country villas in Eastern or Southern Africa - very easy to feel home. Very good birding opportunities on the hotel ground, around the hotel and on the trails. We were sad to leave the place after two nights - it would have been so nice to stay longer.
Probably top 5 hotels in my personal list. Excellent indoor and balcony jacuzzi, properly heated pool, very private territory and special wooden bracelets and the guest name by the door to emphasise the level👌.
The reception guys we very helpful and helped us to purchase Poas Volcano tickets as well as getting some cash. They even got a cake with the candles for the birthday.
The waterfalls garden is just no words. Fantastic trail with a shuttle back.
Loved the views, as it describes, it truly is panoramic! Very spectacular views all around the property. The host, Tomas was exceptional in all aspects; with such warmth, we truly felt at home. He went above and beyond in ensuring our stay was comfortable and even ensured our onwards journey is taken care of, in terms of providing key insights and tips of where to eat, etc for the best experience for our very first Costa Rica trip.
the staff here couldn’t be nicer. the trails are beautiful. I was under the impression that it was an animal refuge but it’s more of a rescue and the animals are caged. they are healthy and the habitats are nice, but it’s still sad to see with all the free and beautiful space they have on the grounds. we stayed here because the admission to the park was included and the waterfall gardens were beautiful.
This place is 5 star hidden gem. The location is perfect 45 min /20 miles from airport. High in mountains right near many parks. So peaceful and the scenery breathtaking. These cabins are so unique and comfortable. The food was so unbelievable the best we had all week in costa rica. The service impeccable
You have to do the trails it's 5km and omg
The room was very nice and spacious (2 jacuzzis and a fireplace!) and it was a really nice experience to be inside the park and enjoy it at different times. The hotel is very nice and well located to visit the Poas Volcano (less than half an hour). We also had the chance to feed tucans, sloths and hummingbirds, which was the most amazing experience.
Lovely location, with trails around the property. Independent family run hotel. For warmer days there were outdoor facilities (BBQ grill, swimming pool, games). Onsite restaurant was open for dinner and again for breakfast. There was also a fridge in reception with water/soft drinks/milk/snacks for purchase.
Casa Volcano is in a lovely location. It is an nice representation of life in Costa Rica on a working farm. Our host, Tomas, was very warm and helpful in every way. We had all of the amenities that we needed and the location was just right for our needs.
The hotel is super family-friendly, you can play minigolf, volleyball, and even badminton.
They have farm animals that you can watch and even touch, also they have a nice trail that ends in a river.
A really good place to stay for a family vacation
The facilities are beyond exceptional and truly exemplify pura vida. They made a beautiful nature trail to a river and waterfall that we’re fun to get into. The family that owns and runs the hotel are all really warm, helpful and inviting.
Breakfast was amazing, eggs cooked perfectly. The staff including Fanny, Javier and the GM were exceptionally helpful and nice. Very close to Poas Volcano and La Paz waterfall gardens which is why we chose this lodge.
Highly recommend.
Great stop off location with beautiful scenery. Room was fantastic with good facilities and balcony to watch the sunset. Staff very friendly and good restaurant at the hotel to have evening meal and breakfast in the morning.
This hotel is amazingly situated with a fantastic view over the forest. The waterfalls are very nice and there is a small zoo as well which is pretty cool -.especially for the kids.
The bathtub on the balcony is great.
Very nice lodge and perfectly located if you want to explore the Poas region. Great breakfast, cute rooms with spectacular view and beautiful garden. Really enjoyed the hotel owned hiking path!
