Blagoevgrad is a lovely provincial town. Thanks to the two universities, there are lots of nice restaurants (and at least 5 night clubs - if you are young enough to enjoy them!). A few minutes walk and you are out in the beautiful countryside. This place is a real gem!

Blagoevgrad is a bit of a funny town which is not welcoming to foreigners. You get treated with suspicion and sometimes outright hostility. We chose it as a base for exploring the Rila Mountain region and for its good connection with Sofia and Plovdiv. Unfortunately they have reduced the number of buses to Rila Monastery so it is not as easy to access, meaning a total of 4 buses at slightly inconvenient times.
The museum in the town is very good, with plenty to see, and the walk up to 'The Cross' is lovely with great views out over the mountains.
Overall, I think there are definitely better towns to stay in to explore the mountains and we would look elsewhere next time

A nice small city with a nice location .
A nice small city with a nice location . I staid at Sky Apartments as always. Easy to get around by fot, many resturants to choose from, my favourite this time was Restaurant & pizza Verde. Close to Greece and the mediterranean, or in the winter go to Bansko and ski. Blagoevgrad also host the American University.

Blagoevgrad is a small mountain town with clean air.
Blagoevgrad is a small mountain town with clean air. The streets are quiet, there is a pedestrian boulevard where you can enjoy the walk and visit the nearby bars and restaurants. There are not many places of entertainment or organized events. I have traveled there often and I think a 2-3 day trip is enough. Card payments can not be made in every store, so it is good to have local money with you. One time I had to take a sedative at the pharmacy and I had no local money but euros and a credit card and it would have been impossible to get a sedative if a very polite girl had not helped me. People look cold but they are helpful. The weather in the morning until 2 PM is mild, then it cools down immediately. However, the experience of traveling to a former communist country is interesting. Taxi service is not expensive. The prices are satisfactory.

A nice, quiet, province city, near the capital of Sofia.
A nice, quiet, province city, near the capital of Sofia. Less than an hour distance by car, on the highway. Lots of restaurants, bars, night clubs, but also an opera house, theaters, museums. Some great parks with long alleys to walk or bike.

The center of the city is very pleasant with a large pedestrian area with a wide range of shops and very good and varied restaurants. There is a pleasant old section to the city with many traditional and beautiful buildings. All of the above is in a fairly compact area and pleasant to walk around.
The location was brilliant for me because my overnight visit was based around the Museum of Blagoevgrad. This was literally a straight 200m walk from the hotel so it couldn't have been more convenient. Everything was great and the room was lovely and warm at all times. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in in a long time and the staff were great - very welcoming and helpful. I would stay there again, without hesitation.
Very good place. Excellent location, very easy to get to downtown by car. Breakfast was amazing. Stuff was very helpfull. Bed was very comfortable. Actually this is the first hotel with pillows which are so good, I loved very much. The indoor pool is great. SPA is good. We did not visit the outdoor pool , it is almost winter, but looks really good. I do recommend this hotel.
The apartment was ok not difficult to find. We stayed one night in our way to our final destination. For one night is really ok and the price acceptable. The stuff was kind and helpful. There are a couple of markets in the neighborhood and you can serve something quick at the hotel restaurant.
A pleasant surprise in the city of Blagoevgrad. We got a large apartment in a new building in the city center. Everything was just great for a transit location (Greece to Romania) for our holiday. Our host Ana was very helpful with all the details for parking and accessing the apartment.
I stayed in this place for 3 nights. The room I got was okay and the balcony was a nice addition. Bathroom was small but functional, just like the room itself. The hotel is close to the center of town. Young guy on reception in the morning was very friendly and spoke good English.
What we appreciated about our stay at this hotel was that they accommodated our request for a specific room. We had asked for a room with certain features or amenities, and they were able to provide it, which was a nice touch. Additionally, the location was very nice.
Looks like a small family hotel. Our room was bigger than expected. There is also a parking close to the hotel but if you come late at night, don't expect to find any free place. Luckily, there are available parking places in the streets nearby.
The room was extremely clean and big, with all of the kitchen supplies that someone may need. The stuff was super friendly, the breakfast was delicious. We loved absolutely everything about our stay in Petkov Family Hotel. 100 % recommendable.
The location was good for a one-night transit stop towards Greece. The hotel has secured parking. The hotel is new so the furniture was in good shape. Our room had a large terrace where we could admire the sunset and the view of the city.
The beds were alright, though the sheets and blankets did not suit the weather. Location is sketchy, but was good for my purposes, since it was relatively close to a landmark. There is also a 24/7 shop right next to the hotel.
Apartment was equipped with anything you need. From laundry detergent to extra sheets and towels. Kitchen had it all. Pots and pans, utensils and a huge variety of cups. So glad we didn't choose a hotel!!
We liked everything - our family is staying at the hotel for the third time and we couldn't be more happy. The place is very clean, the SPA is excellent and the staff is very welcoming.
Too much noise, we couldn’t sleep because of wedding noise.
The pillow uncomfortable.
The bed too much noisy and old.
Pictures are NOT real!!!
The hotel is too old but very clean.
