All roads lead to Plaza Mayor.
All roads lead to Plaza Mayor. Enjoy the ambience, wander around, take plenty of photos but do not buy anything. Over priced tourist tat. Do not be tempted to wander into any cafe, bar or restaurant - over priced and not the real Spain. Make an effort to go where the locals go and you'll see the difference. Great place, let the free tour guide tell you all about it.

Magnificent Plaza. Just go get a cup of coffee and people watch for 2 hours. That's why I would do again and again. Great Architecture, great atmosphere, just a great place to watch the world go by.

Popular plaza for souvenirs or a local snack. We tried Calamari on a bun called Calamares for only 2.95 euros in a charming little tavern which advertising in the window. Just around the corner in a large Tapas hall, Calamares were 6.5 euros. I can recommend the Fruit sticks there for only 2 euros. Segway guided tours are offered across from the Tapas. Great way to see any city. If you have not done this before they are seriously easy to control & ride.

The square is full of restaurants where you can eat or have a drink. We were there on a protest day, so it was very crowded. Otherwise, I think it would be lovely in the evening to people watch and eat.

North to Plaza Mayor street you'll find very good and fancy restaurants
Don't go to any of the "eat as much as you can". It was the only tourist trap we encountered. North to Plaza Mayor street you'll find very good and fancy restaurants. South to this street you will find great othentic Spanish and south American restaurants and a little bit further you'll find real othentic and very good chinese restaurants.
