Have been visiting Toronto at least once per year since 1968, usually more, and it took until now to get to "The island." A lovely place to spend a day. A view of the Toronto skyline you can't get anywhere else than a low-flying plane or a boat. Speaking of boats. Take the island boat tours. Very nice. Not expensive, not overly long. Just right. Bring a jacket, unless it's very hot. There's always a cool/cold breeze coming in from the middle of Lake Ontario.

Don't miss a trip to Centre island with seaside, parks and attractions. Great place to relax. You can take the ferryboat (just book online). In 15 minutes it will bring you to centre island. From 11 am you can rent a bike for 10 CAN dollars per hour. It's very pleasant to cycle around and don't miss the old houses on one of the extremities of the islands: really cute old wood houses

Take the ferry from Jack Layton ferry terminal to Ward island. Buy tickets on line only about 8and a half Canadian dollars return. Go to Ward for a quieter time and less busy ferry. Go to Central if you like crowds!

Wonderful open space outside of the city!

Wonderful open space outside of the city! If you go here on a warm sunny day, you can sit anywhere along the water or even get into one of the kayaks and go around the island. It was so nice getting in the boat to go across to the island and back and feels a little surreal seeing the Toronto Skyline as none of the building actually feel as tall as they are when walking around the city. Highly recommended!!!

Lovely for a walk around, but best to get along the boardwalk away from the throngs in the centre. The Riviera ~ Ward's Island Kitchen (Formerly The Rectory) well worth a stop for pint and and a bite. Worth a fixed fee $10 water taxi to avoid queues to get there, but all ferries back are free.

You can always go for a picnic with the family.

You can always go for a picnic with the family. Plus the have the kiddie rides for the little ones. Nice place for a family outing. Get on that boat early, because it can get pretty crowded when it's busy. Take your coolers and picnic baskets with your food and snacks. for the kids.
