FAQs about hotels in Cape Town

Cool, Colorful Cape

Between mountains and beaches, the 2nd largest city in South Africa mixes history, resilient modernity, and a typical laidback African character. From the top of Table Mountain to the colourful Bo Kaap quarter, and from the Victoria & Albert Waterfront to the modern business district, Cape Town blends multicultural influences and beautiful nature.

Known as Kaapstad in Afrikaans, its sunny weather and mild temperatures make it a perfect place to enjoy the large number of beaches that surround it. From Sunset Beach to Hout Bay, and from Simon’s Town to Gordon Bay, this city offers variety that suits all tastes. Whale and dolphin watching is a popular activity in False Bay.

Located on the Cape of Good Hope, the city was founded in 1652 by a Dutch trading company as a way-station for ships travelling to the East Indies. With the settlement process, all sorts of foreign plants were introduced, including the grapes in the famous Cape Winelands District, just outside of Cape Town.

Cape Town’s history does have some darker periods, and some of its memorable places from this time deserve to be visited: Robben Island jail, the City Hall from which Nelson Mandela gave his first public speech, and the statues of the 4 South African Nobel Peace Prize winners on the V&A Waterfront.

I liked Table mountain and the beaches. My stay was too short which I could not experience much, but there is a lot to experience in Cape Town if you stay long. For as South African Cape Town is expensive.

Cape Town traffic is horrendous. And the city is dirty.

Cape Town traffic is horrendous. And the city is dirty. Stay out of the city, there is a lot to see and do on the outskirts of the city itself. Do visit places like Waterford, the Oranjezigt Market, Haute Gabriere, Anthoni Rupert wine farm (but remember to book). On a clear day, after 4 in the afternoon, go watch the kite surfers at Blouberg, it is amazing. Drive out around Signal Hill and have lunch at The Lookout in Houtbay for the best fish and chips (they do have lots of other great stuff on the menu). Watch the cliff divers (hang gliders) at Green Point. The best visit (and I will go again) was Babylon Storen. This is a must for everyone. Their farming concept is out of this world. Do put a whole day aside for this, you will need it.

Capetown @ seapoint and V&A waterfront as well as city were just best good places to be. Side of table view mountain was very beautiful. Never got to see a lot because it was a short visit. My recommendation is to have a home that will accommodate the paras and be removed next to student accommodation as they become a threat to young students

Had higher expectations as of friends stories regarding the city, besides the waterfront I did not like the city center and I felt a kind of insecure even that nothing happened to us. Typical tourist spots are crowed but organized ok. All people were lovely, no word to say more. We drove out towards the wine region and from there my view changed and started loving the country. So get out of Cape Town and enjoy the country.

Super impressed with how accommodating the hotel is when it comes to different dietary requirements. I want to especially thank Chef Candice for going above and beyond to make sure we had all the vegan variety of foods for breakfast. Thank you so much for being so kind and flexible (You’re are truly one of the kind). This is the second time we have stayed at the Table Bale Hotel in Cape Town and the location is wonderful, in addition to all the comfort it offers you, the breakfast is very tasty and the service is excellent. We would come back more often. Plus it's right next to the shopping mall with escalator access directly from the hotel. In addition to being practically inside the Waterfront, which facilitates many walks and access to restaurants and stores nearby.
