It was in a great location for us, the views were beautiful, the access was great - straight off the highway, the 'wigwam we stayed in was very comfortable, the people were very friendly and helpful. We had great food at the café, the pool was lovely (although we wish it opened a little earlier in the morning). However we do have to mention the toilets. The ones we used were rough and ready but were mostly ok. However, of the 4, one was out of order and one was blocked and had no running water at the hand wash basin. We picked one that was clean and did work though .

We'd recommend staying in Lone Pine vs.

We'd recommend staying in Lone Pine vs. Olancha; the latter doesn't offer much except, perhaps, a 25- to 30-mile reduction in miles driven in order to visit Death Valley. Stay in Panamint Springs if you want to be closer to Death Valley attractions with equal or better amenities than Olancha offers. Olancha does have a fuel/service station but otherwise, Lone Pine has a lot more to offer (stores, restaurants, a museum, a greater variety of lodging choices, etc.) and is 21 miles closer to Bishop, Mt. Whitney, etc.

There are a lot of things to do and see within a short distance from this location and it is centrally located to them. The food on site is very good, and there are several good places in nearby Lone Pine. (22mi)

Olancha is beautiful, quiet, amazing place.

Olancha is beautiful, quiet, amazing place. If you want to go somewhere that is off the grid this is your spot. The only problem is they have one motel which is over priced and not well taken care of. It looks great on the outside but what you get for the price is extremely disappointing. No restaurants, just a over priced Mobil station with store. So best to do a RV situation there. Getting around is a breeze because there is 192 people population. Great for ATV riding in the Dunes, lakes close by.

No heat, food was expensive and no menu provided.

No heat, food was expensive and no menu provided. The electric blankets did not work and when asked for a new one, it did not work. We froze at night. We left a day early due to the cold and lack of cleanliness. The bathrooms were out of service, we had to walk across the park to use them and they did not have lights. When we left, the office was closed. Customer service does not exist. Loved the loud highway next to the park. Cars and truck drove by the entire night and were extremely loud. There were no activities at the park. The park store and restaurant did not have any coffee despite the below freezing temperatures. Stay away from this park. The owners are scammers.

There’s not much to do in Olancha itself.

There’s not much to do in Olancha itself. Nonetheless, there are some neat places to explore. There’s history here, like Manzanar, a Japanese detention center from WWII. Oh, and everyone must stop at Gus’s Jerky. Friendly people and delicious products.

We arrived late, after 12am. At the office there was an envelope with my name with a check in slip, key, and map to our room. So wonderful and easy after driving 7+ hours. And our room was so beautiful. This is by far one of the best places I've stayed and I've stayed in a lot of places. This was just a pit stop on our way to twin lakes but I would return just to stay here again.

We stayed in one of the Olancha tipi rooms, which was more spacious than expected for the two of us. Everything was clean, organized, and beautifully decorated. We were able to plug in both phones and laptop with no problems. Tanya took care of everything we needed from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. She was amazing and ready to help all day long!

Location from Big Pine. Needed a last second spot to spend the night and they had a room, $99 for a night. Got to motel within an hour from booking , management picked up right away. New AC chilled room great. TV with Netflix. Microwave, small fridge. Bed was surprisingly comfortable. Didn't hear any noise from neighbors or road.

My room was in an older mobile home that was nicely outfitted and upgraded inside. It was quiet and the parking was great. The staff were friendly. There is a kitchen and a pool, but I all I needed was a cool place to sleep in Olancha. There is also a cafe but it was closed during the time I tried to visit it.

An interesting place, not far from the entrance to the Death Valley. RV park with some trailer-alike rooms and tents (teepees). Great landscape around. The room was quite cold and dirty with mould on the ceiling and in the shower. WiFi worked only near the cafe.

Stayed there for one night on our way to Death Valley. Beautifully located, near the mountains and conveniently close to Death Valley. The tipi’s were a nice touch with a comfortable bed. Restrooms were clean. Good value.

Good motel to stay during your car journey. Everything like on pictures/description. Not very big rooms, but still okay. Nice decoration. Self check-in. Air-conditioner, kettle, mini-refrigerator, microwave.

The Horse Teepee was great! The bed was very comfortable and the swamp cooler worked well. The food at Olancha Café was great and well priced too! The outdoor showers were great and very clean.

Real tepee with comfy beds, wifi and electricity. What can be better? For the cold nights you have a heater and electric blankets. Private sitting area is also provided near the tepee.

Came the long way from Austria, and the stop at Olancha was worth the way. Cute cosy Tipi, the most comfortable bed and heated blankets. No frozen toes possible. Stop by and enjoy it.

So different from your traditional hotel. Driving by the place looks deserted . The rooms are very roomy, clean and a great experience. 😎
