I didn't eat breakfast very often, but when I did there was a good selection of food. The hotel had been remodeled so everything was new and clean.

I am grateful to Booking.com for providing the AmericInn by Wyndham at Johnston's front desk number so clearly and as a phone call link on my booking information and receipt, as I needed that number at hand more than once.
I needed to adjust my reservation, even after confirmation, and called the front desk number to discuss my options with Paula. About five hours following checkout, I had completed my activities in Des Moines and was headed home when I realized that I had left my raincoat in my room. I again called the front desk number to discuss the matter with Allison.
When I needed assistance, Paula and Allison both listened carefully and did everything to meet my needs, solve my problems, and confirm that the honest staff had found and protected my raincoat.
I couldn't have been more pleased when them and with our breakfast attendant who helped with my request for hot water for tea when I found none provided near the tea bags and coffee carafes.
Just 12 miles from Des Moines International Airport, this hotel serves a daily hot breakfast with eggs, sausage, Belgian waffles, and more. Each guest room is equipped with free Wi-Fi.

The manger or owner was very rude i called to do a early check in i was told yes when i arrived i seen two room both were dirty . I was having a romantic night and set the room with the décor and i was told if i didn't clean up the mess i was going to be charges extra $100 . I told him it does not say we cant decorate in the description and I paid for the room which was a $80 room and I paid $134 that was included the cleaning fee so I was not going to clean up after myself. He was mad but its the hotel job to do the cleaning . i will not go back .

Hotel is older, however it has been updated.
Hotel is older, however it has been updated. Bed & pillows were very comfortable. The pillow cases/covers had stitching labeling them, “soft” & “firm” Hotel is very clean. Service was great. Staff was very friendly. Nice big lobby. Definitely worth the money.

The best thing is a hidden gem called Asian Buffet!
The best thing is a hidden gem called Asian Buffet! Go there, you will be so glad you did!
I'm familiar with the area and have family there, but this area is close to a lot of amenities and shops. I also like that downtown Des Moines is a short drive as I do not like to be in the middle of downtown, but I like to have a lot of choices around me. This is a quiet place close to the interstate with easy access and easy to find.

This location is too close to the highway.
This location is too close to the highway. Traffic noise, all night long...loud enough to constantly wake a deeper sleeper like myself.
The bed was definitely not “most comfortable hotel bed - you’ll never want to get out of bed”
It was so firm and short, I couldn’t wait for morning to come to leave!

Great location and reasonable rates! No breakfast because of Covid 19, but the motel is near places that served our needs. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The motel was quiet with plenty of parking.

We couldn't go on a long vacation because of covid, so we went to Adventureland/bay, also visited Living History Farms. We ate at Machine Shed for supper first night - Awesome meal and service. Ate at Fazoli's and Culvers the next two days. Worked out well. Easy to get around.
Older hotel showing signs of age but clean and comfortable. Hot breakfast included eggs and sausage, waffle maker. Pool was nice and clean, water was warm per my kids. No hot tub/locker room/shower but plenty of clean towels. Perfect for an overnight with kids during a long road trip. Bring a sound machine, traffic is loud all night being so close to the road.
It was an accessible room. Bedroom was great, shower was perfect to get in and out with shower head in the right place with flexible shower head.
Biggest disappointment was the doors getting into the hotel were not automatic or have accessible automatic opener. Very difficult to open a door in a wheelchair with no way to get through two outer doors.
The location was close to the highway and close to area restaurants. Other than those two things, there is absolutely nothing that I enjoyed about this hotel. I was disgusted from the moment we entered the room and saw how dirty it was. All the little things add up and cleanliness is paramount when staying in rooms used by other people.
Good location, clean, good staff. I submitted a review saying that we had been charged again a couple of days later and it rather spoiled the stay… having just messaged directly through Booking.com the hotel responded with in a few mins to say they had rectified the situation, sincerely apologising… top marks to AmericInn at Des Moines 😁
We were able to check in early and were upgraded to the corner suite with beautiful big windows. There was a fireworks show we weren’t aware of but we able to see it out our windows it was awesome!! Staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and even let us go next door to the sister hotel and swim! We will be staying again!
The staff was friendly and helpful when anything was needed...did a good job handling a lot of folks at once. I liked the easy access to highways and other locations of interest to us whether close by or across town. The hotel was quiet, both in terms of noise inside as well as outside noise that would have been distracting.
The room was clean comfortable but the hotel was a disappointment. The manager needs to work on his broken English that was not easy. There was absolutely NO breakfast not even a Continental pre-wrapped muffin to go! Loading the luggage was an experience in agility after soaking my shoe stepping out the door.
Breakfast was ok. Good variety. Restaurant was nice addition. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was the restaurant option. Loved the robes in the suite. Nice shower! Comfy beds. Very quiet hotel.
Staff was wonderful and very helpful. Especially Mya she answered all of our questions and concerns! We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Des Moines area.
