Chris
I have been home-sharing for about 10 years now and have met many interesting people. I view visitors more as short-term roommates than I do as guests. While I tend to be easy-going, I do have my pet-peeves. With that said, I ask that you please review the house "rules" before you book with me. My guests have included a combination of tourists and business travelers. Whichever you may be, you're welcome to stay with me. I'd be happy to provide you with an opportunity to step into the shoes of a New Yorker for a short time. I'm a former journalist, PR guy and worked for a non-profit in the sustainable agriculture / environmental field for many years. I started my own coaching/consulting business several years ago and would be interested to find out more about what's going on in your life. Perhaps I can help you out in some way? My work schedule is pretty unpredictable and I often do work from home. I can get pretty busy (especially in the morning), so I'm not always immediately available to answer casual questions. But if you give me some advance notice, I'll make sure we have some time to spend together. Otherwise, I generally assume that guests want independence.
EAST VILLAGE/UNION SQUARE There are many restaurants, shops, a playhouse, live music, and laundromats in the nearby vicinity. I believe that the East Village is the best neighborhood in New York City with a wide collection of restaurants, pubs, local attractions, etc. There is so much to do in this neighborhood. I can't imagine living anywhere else. Once you book, I will send you a link to my neighborhood blog. Local Points of Interest: Union Square Park/Farmers Market (East 14th Street) East River Park (FDR) Little Tokyo (East 9th Street) Little India (East 6th Street) McSorley's Old Ale House (East 7th Street) Whole Foods Market (East 14th Street) Union Square Cafe (East 16th Street) GETTING AROUND It's also just a short walk from Union Square station, with plenty of bus and subway options to get around the city. TOURIST ATTRACTIONS NYU/Washington Square Park -- 15 min walk Little Italy -- 25 min walk Chinatown -- 25 min walk SOHO -- 25 min walk Lower East Side -- 20 min walk Shake Shack/Madison Square Park -- 10 min via subway Empire State Building -- 15 min via subway Midtown -- 20 min via train World Trade Center -- 20 min via subway
