Alturas is a delightful small town at the edge of the Warner...
Alturas is a delightful small town at the edge of the Warner Mountains, a forgotten part of California. There are a lot of ranches in the area, very rural, but also has a lot of recreation in the Modoc National Forest for outdoor enthusiasts. The Warner Mountains are virtually untouched and uncrowded. Locals are super friendly and helpful.

We stayed one night.
We stayed one night. Many of the restaurants had closed by 7 pm on a Friday, so we had one choice of eatery within walking distance of our motel. The town may not have recovered yet from the Pandemic.

Nothing like pictures on the website. Dirty run down buildings and homes. Awful roads with potholes and old vacant run down buildings. We went to see if we wanted to retire in Altures, well that is a huge nope!

We were just passing through so we only spent one night.
We were just passing through so we only spent one night. The people were very nice. The lady at the hotel coffee shop helped us avoid a traffic jam caused by construction work. We really appreciated that.MarilynUnited States of America

I had a bit of a time finding my room, but it was quiet, and I was able to get an excellent night's sleep. I paid in the morning and was on my way again. This is how small towns do things, and being from a small town, it was wonderful to feel right at home. The room was spacious and the tiled shower was awesome - roomy and hot hot water and space to scrub a 4-day camper's body down.RRobynUnited States of America

Booking.com has listed that the hotel is pet friendly and the owners assured me that it is no longer pet friendly. rather than cancel the reservation we worked out a compromise for the night. unfortunately we wont stay here again because of the no pet policy.
