The front desk was friendly and always available. This was an excellent choice for my unexpected stay. Quiet and near everything. Great room with everything I needed.

Alturas is a delightful small town at the edge of the Warner Mountains, a forgotten part of California. There are a lot of ranches in the area, very rural, but also has a lot of recreation in the Modoc National Forest for outdoor enthusiasts. The Warner Mountains are virtually untouched and uncrowded. Locals are super friendly and helpful.

We stayed one night.
We stayed one night. Many of the restaurants had closed by 7 pm on a Friday, so we had one choice of eatery within walking distance of our motel. The town may not have recovered yet from the Pandemic.

Nothing like pictures on the website.
Nothing like pictures on the website. Dirty run down buildings and homes. Awful roads with potholes and old vacant run down buildings. We went to see if we wanted to retire in Altures, well that is a huge nope!

We were just passing through so we only spent one night.
We were just passing through so we only spent one night. The people were very nice. The lady at the hotel coffee shop helped us avoid a traffic jam caused by construction work. We really appreciated that.
I didn't get into Alturas until late, and staff had left. However, there was an envelope with a note and room key taped to the door. I had a bit of a time finding my room, but it was quiet, and I was able to get an excellent night's sleep. I paid in the morning and was on my way again. This is how small towns do things, and being from a small town, it was wonderful to feel right at home.
The room was spacious and the tiled shower was awesome - roomy and hot hot water and space to scrub a 4-day camper's body down.
The owners were accommodating because the Booking.com description was incorrect and we were traveling with a pet. Booking.com has listed that the hotel is pet friendly and the owners assured me that it is no longer pet friendly. rather than cancel the reservation we worked out a compromise for the night. unfortunately we wont stay here again because of the no pet policy.
This is an amazing historical property. If you have a passion for antiques or the Old West, you will constantly be in awe of the collection of furnishings and pictures the hotel has acquired. Kind, helpful staff, especially Jenny at check-in and Kim, the server in the restaurant. I love the different themed rooms: mine was "Parisian Charm."
I appreciate how they have restored a very old hotel and made it comfortable.
Very quiet and comfy room with antiques.
Voucher for morning coffee and pastry was good.
Sitting rooms on second floor a nice touch.
Hotel history in room and photographs around the staircase much appreciated.
The motel was clean and location was quiet. Much better than some brand chain hotels I stayed in. Breakfast was simple but filling. Well worth the money spent for a nights stay.
The room was nice and clean for the $65 dollar price paid. Motel is within walking distance of several restaurants (which is ideal when travelling by motorcycle).
