This is a fun small town with great food options and plenty of outdoor space to walk, run, picnic and enjoy river activities. We enjoyed the farmers market as well as time at the riverfront park. It is a very walkable downtown, with everything from high quality sushi, great hamburgers at Lucy’s, street tacos and specialty drinks at Truk’d, to a fun Brewery (Cheese Heads) and a rooftop bars for a great date night

I really didn't get to see much of the city because I just came in town for a funeral. I saw there were a few restaurants that I would have loved to try. Especially a nice everyone has been telling us that the best eating place was in Rockford IL.

So there is this healthy restaurant/grocery downtown, called Bushel and Peck's, that is amazing. I was in awe of even the bun for our burger. A sweet doughy taste I couldn't get over how good it was. I usually just ditch the bread for diet purposes, but not this one, it was memorable. They have bakery and soups which he had the chili and actually went back the next day to buy a container of it in grocery frozen section to take home. The service is fast and efficient which is the icing on the cake.
Another thing was antique stores seem to be a number of them. I squeezed in a few minutes at a large one that I could spend the whole day in.

Charming little town with big city touches.
Charming little town with big city touches. We loved the college campus, the, river walk, and the farmers market. Bushel and Peck store is not to be missed. Also, Pig Minds Brewery and DC Winery was really fun.
Everything was super clean as well as really comfortable. The price wasn't terrible for what we recieved. The breakfast was nice. I also noticed lots of available rooms for people who may be in wheelchairs, which i think is a great addition and super helpful.
The beds were also pretty comfortable and the wifi speeds never dropped even at night when more people were at the hotel. There's also lots of places nearby for food and drinks that are just a walk away, such as a Mobil or even a Walmart just across the street.
I did not stay here. I booked a reservation online and when I arrived I was informed that the computers were down and no one could check in. The desk clerk had no idea when they would be back up and when I wanted to cancel I was informed it was probably all the hotels if they used that system. I cancelled and went to the Hampton Inn for the night.
The size of the room, amentities (safe, microwave, fridge, free wifi) and the condition of the hotel all exceeded expectations. The hotel is still fairly new and it was in great condition.
