Location, balcony with table for laptops made for a wonderful start each day. Even though there were many families with children, the adult pool was buffered from the sounds of children playing in the family pool, creating a beautiful sanctuary.

We didn't receive a breakfast. I liked the location very much. Our grandparents lived in Ahualoa and it reminded me of "the old days".

This room was a perfect self contained unit with plenty of space. Everything seemed brand new and squeaky clean. I easily could have stayed here a month. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was nice. We were only there one night because it was otherwise booed. We used the fridge but the kitchenette seemed to have the basics. I am not sure the A/C would be necessary for everyone but we admit to using it and appreciating it since we are accustomed to it at home. There were plenty of outlets for charging our devices. The owners were available and friendly. My only recommendation is to make sure that you have the map and check in instructions saved on your phone as the cell service along the way there is not the best and you may lose access to the information. I had no cell service upon arrival and sent a booking message to ask for the instructions, and she replied immediately! I would highly recommend this stay to see this part of the coast and to visit the little town. It has the most delicious Big Hawaii chocolate on the island (award winning) and tastings are free at the shop in town. The bathing suit shop makes one of a kind items that we could not resist. The entire coast is is beautiful and the view of the valley is breathtaking. I hope that someday we can return to hike the valley since it is no longer open for hikes …at least not while we were there.
Located among 32 oceanfront acres on the Kohala Coast, the Fairmont Orchid is a spectacular resort offering luxurious accommodations and extensive resort facilities to the discerning traveler.

The suite was roomy and very tastefully decorated. The bed was comfortable. The kitchen had all the necessities of home. I loved the view from the balcony. I also loved the washer and dryer and the ice maker!

Waimea is a beautiful quaint village near the northern end of the big island of Hawaii. Rural in character but loved by many. It's great cattle country with Parker Ranch and many others smaller ranches in the area. It's only 40 miles to Kona or a short flight to Honolulu.

Nice nature walk right in the middle of town, starting just behind the France-Canada-Hawaii Observatory offices; two nice grocery stores (we preferred the KTA Super Stores Waimea due to the excellent produce and take out sushi and sandwiches). Loved L& & BBQ, FORC, Moa Kitchen, Merriman's, Hawaiian Style Cafe, Kamuela Kitchen & Coffee Bar. Wonderful day trip to Honoka'a, cute town, good shopping. Wonderful half-day trip to Hawai'i Tropical Bioreserve & Gardens - one of best we've visited. Vanilla Farm tour fun. Enjoyed the park & picnic area at Honaunau National Historical Park - great parking areas, clean restrooms, nice little gift shop, all for free entry if you remember to take your National Park Annual Pass; if you don't, for $30 you get a week's pass. So enjoyed the Fair Winds Snorkel 1/2 day trip to Captain Cook Memorial, still wonderful snorkeling after our first trip 30 years ago.

I'll remember Waimea as the place with clean air, amazing views, and having a perfectly-comfortable temperature. Being only an hour from Hilo or Kona, the climate in Waimea is a perfect mix of each climate. There are many good places to eat and a wonderful brewery, seving good beer and food. Waimea is easy to get around and the traffic, while we were there, is minimal.

I liked being able to walk around town, everything was in walking distance. The cool Waimea breeze in the morning and that old country feeling, was great! We also were able to go next door to check out the wonderful locally made art work, and the tasty Waimea food at the Parker Farmer's Market, visiting the farmer's market was the highlight of my trip. I was also able to find some cool tea sets at the antique shop down the road, and at the reuse, recyclable store, all in walking distance.

An historic village on the slopes of two volcanoes.
An historic village on the slopes of two volcanoes. Merriman's restaurant is there and is rated the best restaurant on the Big Island, so it's a must go. We saw Robi K. and the Hawaiian Band at the Kihilu Theater and really enjoyed that. Did bird watching with a very good local expert, Lance Tanino, in the immediate area and saw lots of species including the Hawaiian owl Pueo. The weather there tends to be cool, but the beach is only 10 miles away. The Waimea area has always been my favorite drive on the Big Island, with some parts looking like rolling hills in New England.

Waimea is a beautiful, historic town.
Waimea is a beautiful, historic town. The people are friendly, kind and hospital. It is at a higher altitude, so the town is cooler than at sea-level. The views from above [Kohala Mountains] is breath-taking.
The location was right in the middle of things in Waimea, so it was easy to pop out to one of the two grocery stores in town, or to L&L Barbecue, to one of the other small restaurants in town to pick up ordered meals, or the post office! I write during the pandemic in January 2022, and this place was a great place to isolate ourselves from crowds in a small town atmosphere.
Decor - great - Kitchen - lovely and very adequate dishes, pans, cutlery; no dishwasher, but for two of us, easy to clean up. Very elegant space.
We liked that it was private and had a secluded patio. It was also convenient to the places we wanted to visit. The host was responsive. There were supplies for continental breakfast: cereal and toast with butter and jam. Also coffee and tea.
Waimea has a much cooler climate than Kona that we had just left, but there were plenty of blankets, and we were quite comfortable. The furnishings were attractive. It was a nice place for the price.
It is a lodge/motel, located at an altitude of 800 meters, if i remember correctly.
The rooms are very large and really well furnished.
My wife and I have dined several times at the house, using the room's kitchen: great experience.
I probably had the best sleep in Hawaii on those beds, also thanks to the the fact that in the evening/night in Waimea it gets chillier.
Friendly staff. Nice kitchenette in newly remodeled suite. Great having real dishes, silverware, even decent knives. Nice place outside to take your coffee. Room felt spacious. Convenient to drive right up to room. Short walk to grocery store/Starbucks. Would have a been a great location for going to Mauna Kea, which was my intention in booking in Waimea.
This hotel was one of our favorites on the island. It is in a quiet location and within walking distance to stores and a great park with a playground. We had a beautiful view of the countryside and chickens from one of our windows (we had 3 windows in our room!). The shower is nice and the staff is very friendly. There is a picnic area on site.
Really lovely motel. Would stay her again for sure. We were lucky that we stayed on a Friday night, with the Waimea farmers markets on the next morning at the school next door. There are also great restaurants walking distance, including acclaimed FORC which is right next door. Waimea is a lovely town, really loved it there.
Room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Centrally located in Waimea town and easy access to shops, restaurants and the farmers market located next door. Plenty of parking and great facilities to have your own BBQ. The wifi worked really well and shower pressure was great.
Perfect location. Perfect cleanliness. Perfectly nice check in and check out staff and process. Quiet room. Recently renovated. Very clean. Easy parking close to the room. We love Waimea and staying here was something we would do again.
The property is well maintained. Checkin/out very easy. The room was very clean. Everything you needed including the wifi pw,fridge& even an extra blanket were provided . Location is great. Excellent restaurants near by too.
The location is ideal. There are restaurants, a grocery store, and a great coffee stand all within a mile or less of the hotel. The place is well kept, clean, and easy to find with ample parking.
Great value for the money. Spacious, clean, room and bathroom with chill staff. This lodging is significantly cheaper than other options. The central location in Waimea town is unbeatable.
